Greetings!

We hope this email finds everyone healthy and safe in our common attempt to 'flatten the curve.'

If you have children at home, or even if not, we hope that your families are finding ways to adapt, slowly building new routines, and creating some sense of a new normal.

And to the tots we usually see in the mornings, elementary age kids in the afternoons, and athletes on evenings and weekends - we miss you!

It's been nearly three weeks since most of our programs were suspended in accordance with covid-19 guidelines from CDC and Chicago Public Health Dept.  Many  of you have asked how we are faring and what we are doing to  ensure that HPNC stays strong for the future.

We want you to know that we are making every effort to ensure that our core staff are paid throughout this crisis and that the building receives the regular TLC it requires

For more detail, our Board and Executive Director have written a  letter to the HPNC Community.
Childcare for Essential Workers and New Ways to Connect

Though our building is mostly quiet, we are excited to share two programming developments with you.

Emergency Childcare for Covid-10 Front LIne Staff
We are grateful to be a resource to University of Chicago and UC Medical Center families in need of Emergency Childcare dealing with the Covid-19
Sibling groups play 6-feet apart
crisis first hand. Keeping a very low census, we can care for up to 10 children in each classroom while ensuring each child or sibling group observes all necessary safety precautions.

FInd our Programs on Social Media!
We are sharing resources every day

For parents of school age kids, Wednesday  was a reminder that the same group that sends UC student volunteers to HPNC After-School Homework help is now available for  online tutoring! Watch for future cooking lessons with Mr. Kyle!

For our  Play-N-Learn and Tot Lot crowd our Program Coordinator Dama Mercado is bringing parents and caregivers great ideas for home-based creative art, dramatic play, and more. We especially loved her 'tracks' idea! Next week she will add Spanish Story Time on Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. Be sure to 'Like' our Facebook or Follow us on Instagram so you don't miss anything!
Virtual Pancake Breakfast
1st Place
Photo Contest Winner
by Kit Ginsky
We are new to virtual events but we were determined not to break the Pancake Breakfast tradition! As it turned out, you seemed to agree!  We had a great turn out of HPNC friends and families both near and far!

By Facebook, Instagram, e-mail, and texts we enjoyed 6 'live' pancake flippers, 500+ social media views, 36 entries in our Pancake Photo Contest and over $4000 in ticket sales and donations!

Winning photos put smiles on our faces and reminded us the many creative ways we can connect in this unusual time.

1st and 3rd place photos are below. The 2nd place photo and an article about the event are here in the  Hyde Park Herald!
