Spring, 2018
Greetings!

Happy Spring! I love seeing the flowers and trees starting to bloom around campus and the groundhogs running around again! I always think of spring as a fresh start and a time of new beginnings. The Foundation team has been busy working on a number of new projects including new endowments, scholarships, and sponsorship opportunities. I am excited to announce our new fundraising efforts for the Ivy Building, the last remaining building from the St. Genevieve’s of the Pines and Gibbons Hall schools. Ivy was known as the Auditorium to the students. Gym classes were taught, school plays performed, and school dances were held inside the Auditorium. I have loved hearing stories about those school dances and plays from the alumni! Once completed, Ivy will be the new home for the Foundation and many of A-B Tech's Community Enrichment classes, including dance, will be taught there. A restored and renovated Ivy Building will ensure the legacy of the beautiful building and fill it with a vibrant energy once again. I would love to talk with you about how you can help make Ivy a reality.

Best,
Amanda

The 2018 Scholarship Luncheon
The 17 th annual Scholarship Luncheon, was held March 7th at the Crowne Plaza Expo Center. Every year this event provides an opportunity for our scholarship students to meet the individuals responsible for their particular scholarship in person, and for members of our College and community to hear from a few of our students. We had a great crowd of almost 400 student scholarship recipients and other guests, including scholarship donors, A-B Tech Board of Trustees, Foundation Board members, community members, and A-B Tech staff and faculty.
An Outstanding Scholarship Award
Three A-B Tech Allied Health students received scholarship awards through the Mary W. Hutchison Legacy Scholarship Fund. The scholarship was established in memory of Mary W. Hutchison who dedicated over 35+ years of service to the nursing profession. The fund provided scholarships to students who are interested in pursuing higher education to advance their knowledge, training and skills in the nursing or medical field.

Students who were awarded the scholarship and their program of studies are: 1 st place - Keyara Hampton, Nursing; 2 nd place-Emily Crowe, Nursing; 3 rd place- Cameryn Nasholds, Dental Hygiene. The total amount awarded to the students was $1,000.

A special thank you to the Hutchison Family for providing support to our students.
The Ivy Building Project
The Ivy Building, the last remaining structure from St. Genevieve of the Pines and Gibbons Hall is the small auditorium located behind Allied Health and Workforce Development Building on Victoria Road. It served as the auditorium of the school from its construction in 1936, until the school merged with Asheville Country Day to form Carolina Day School in 1987.

Having recently fallen into disrepair, fundraising efforts are underway to renovate and revitalize the Ivy Building.
