PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED RECOMMENDATION FOR
SR 408 EXTENSION SET FOR APRIL 26
|
Residents are invited to attend a public hearing on April 26 to offer their views on CFX’s recommendation to extend State Road 408 (Spessard L. Holland East-West Expressway) from SR 50 to SR. 520 in East Orange County.
The proposed 7-mile extension would provide a new east-west travel alternative, relieving congestion on SR 50 in East Orange County and offer an additional emergency evacuation route. Building the extension would be the first step toward realizing a long-term goal of connecting SR 408 with I-95.
The public hearing will be held at
East River High School
, 650 E. River Falcons Way, Orlando, starting with an open house at 5:30 p.m. Attendees will be able to view exhibits, get their questions answered from study staff and provide comments. A formal presentation of the extension proposal begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a public comment period.
The CFX Board will be presented the study findings on the recommended corridor at an upcoming meeting.

Lyman H.S. Engineering Students Tour Wekiva Parkway
|
CFX led more than 45 Lyman High School engineering students on a Learning Tour of the Wekiva Parkway on March 29, two days before opening a new section of the project.
During the tour, the group stopped at five locations along the parkway route. CFX has completed construction on its nearly 10 miles of the 25-mile parkway. The Florida Department of Transportation expects to complete their sections of the project in 2022.
The tour provided the students and staff of Lyman High’s Institute of Engineering a hands-on opportunity to learn about bridge and roadway design, surveying, tolling technologies and the environmental processes used on transportation projects.
