Region 5 Endurance
Most of these rides have an "intro ride" or "trail ride" that is a shorter distance to allow you to try the sport without jumping into the limited distance of 25 mile. These intro rides are non-timed events, so you can take as long as you need to finish, yet still go through the vetting requirements to learn the process. If it's something you are thinking about trying it's the best way to experience Endurance without the stress of being timed.
Another great thing about Endurance, is there is really no dress code other than the required helmet while mounted per EDRA rules. You can use any saddle and any tack that best fits your horse and clothes that you feel comfortable in.
Region 5 Endurance Championship will be at Capital Forest in Olympia, Wash. on June 23.
Base camp will be the Evergreen Gun Club.
If you want to experience night riding in a safe environment, check out Midnight Riders on August 25.
Ride manager, Bobbi Walker, does an amazing job of coordinating this to be a successful learning experience.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact Jala Neufeld at
[email protected] or

Region XI Championship Show

Many people have had questions about the Region XI show this coming July and whether it will be able to take place on the Illinois State Fairgrounds due to prospective construction. Dave Waggoner our show manager, has been in contact with the people at the fairgrounds and has learned the following:
Barn 13 (the main warm up arena) which is used by most to go directly into the show arena from the practice area is having the roof replaced and the project is well under way. There is a completion date of June 1, 2018, that they are quite confident will be met (Rumor is there is a significant penalty clause in the contract if it is delayed after that date).
The engineering firm for the coliseum renovation is onsite doing studies on all components of the structure so that a detailed plan can be made for approval. This phase, according to the grounds people will take at least a few months before completion. Then there is the bid-letting which will also take a significant amount of time. Of course, they would like it to be ready by 2019 for the State Fair in August, however, with the studies and lead time to actual construction a much later date is anticipated.
While it is unfortunate that the Coliseum was allowed to deteriorate to this condition the shows that have used the current facilities have praised the work that has been done to provide a safe place to hold all classes so that the horse shows may continue. So please come see us at Region XI this year as we plan to have a great show in 2018!!!

Member Accolades:
Prue Critichley is brimming with pride. Her great stallion *Empres++++// has been immortalized as a Breyer Model, released in January, and he's been invited as a guest horse to BreyerFest in July at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Ky.
It is believed that Empres is the first Canadian horse immortalized by Breyer, an honor not to be taken lightly.
*Empres is a Monogramm son born in Poland in 1995, but now lives in Manitoba, Canada, with his loving owner, Prue Critchley. He was born at Michałów State Stud, Poland, under the direction of Ignacy Jaworowski. As a three-year-old he raced at the Warsaw track. He stood at stud at Michałów and other Polish stud farms for three years, siring 25 foals in Poland. Many of these have gone on to prove themselves on the track and at shows in Europe. Some of these have produced highly successful offspring themselves.
*Empres arrived in Canada in April 2011 - and is very proudly owned by Prue Critchley, Manitoba. He has continued with a very successful show career which can be found on his web page :
