New Summer Fitness Schedule 


Drop in Adult Volleyball 

Ages 16+
Start Date: July 9, 2018
$2.00 drop in fee per participant
Come out and join us at the Sunderland Memorial Arena for some fun recreational volleyball. Teams will be made as people arrive for scrimmages. No referees, just honest players.
Mondays - Sunderland Memorial Arena 8:00 - 9:30 pm

Youth Drop in Ball Hockey 

Ages 6 - 16
$2 drop in fee per participant
Bring a stick, ball, helmet, gloves, and your friends to play some recreational ball hockey. Teams will be decided as players are arrive.
Please bring a helmet and gloves.

Badminton

All Ages
$2.00 drop in fee per participant
Recreational badminton where teams will be made as people arrive. All games will be played round robin style, participants will rotate through. Badminton is a fun way to be active and socialize with people who enjoy the game as much as you do!

Pilates

Pilates is a form of full body exercise that develops Strength, Control and Concentration. Classes are suitable for all ages and abilities. Benefits of a regular Pilates practice are; Longer Leaner Muscles, Proper Alignment, Core Stability, Injury reduction, Flexibility, Endurance, Stress Reduction. All you will need is a Mat and a good attitude!

We will bring focus to finding the connection between our breath, mind and body as we flow through a series of yoga postures that will leave you feeling calm, focused and energized. Classes are for all levels - no yoga experience necessary! Bring a yoga mat and water!

Pickleball

All Ages

A combination of tennis, badminton and table tennis. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in Ontario. Played with a shorthanded paddle and a whiffle ball, the game is easy to learn and a fun way to stay active.

Actively Aging

All Ages
$5 drop in fee per participant
Actively Aging is ideal for older adults who are looking for a workout that is a little more challenging but at a moderate intensity. Using light hand weights and resistance bands throughout this workout participants will be focusing on cardio, strength, balance and stretching while enjoying the company of others in a safe and fun environment.

Restorative Yoga 

All Ages
$5 drop in fee per participant
Restorative yoga typically involves 3-4 poses, supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. Poses are held up to 15 minutes each including light twists, forward holds and gentle backbends.

Reminder to Taxpayers

T he first installment of the 2018 Final Tax Bill is due on or before

July 20, 2018 

Payment can be made at most Financial Institutions or at the Municipal Office, Cannington. (Telephone/Online Banking is available through most major banking institutions).  Please mail your payment early or pay in advance if paying at the bank.  Payments delayed in the mail or at the bank and received after the due date are subject to late payment charges.  A drop box is available at the Municipal Building for after hours.  (No cash in drop box please.) 

You can pay your taxes with Visa or Mastercard using a third-party credit card company.  Payments made through Plastiq will incur a fee.  Vi ew their terms and conditions at www.plastiq.com .  This option is available online ONLY.  Please allow sufficient time for your payment to be received in the Municipal Office by the due date.
 
A penalty of 1.25 % will be applied on the first day of the month following the due date and the first day of each calendar month thereafter in which default continues.

Additional Payment Options
If your account is current, we offer a monthly Pre-authorized payment plan option which is a very helpful budgeting tool. We also offer Pre-authorized payments for the full amount of your four installments per year.
 
If your account has fallen behind, we also offer a pre-authorized arrears plan. Contact the Tax Collector today to arrange a monthly payment amount that will work for you, and pay down your tax arrears. All penalties must be paid prior to any portion of a payment being applied to the tax arrears.  
 
Low Income Seniors Property Tax Rebate
A $250.00 Property Tax Rebate is being offered to home owners whose principal residence is the property being applied for, who are 65 years of age or older, and who are currently in receipt of the Guaranteed Income Supplement,
(A copy of your GIS renewal award letter MUST accompany the application).   Applications and details of the program can be obtained at the Municipal Office or on-line at www.townshipofbrock.ca.

Deadline for application is September 30TH of each year.
Are you on the voters list? 

Township of Brock residents can find out whether they're on the list to vote for the upcoming municipal and school board elections at voterlookup.ca.
 
voterlookup.ca is an online service used to collect and confirm information that will be used in the preparation of the final Voters' List. You can also change your school support for electoral purposes and add names to your property address.
 
To confirm your information is accurately recorded for the upcoming election, log on to voterlookup.ca using your property address or assessment roll number and your full name and date of birth. Updating this information will help to ensure that municipal Voters' List is accurate and up-to-date in preparation for municipal and school board election occurring on October 22, 2018.

The Township of Brock Summer Day Camp is for children aged 4-12 and is a great way for your kids to keep active, make new friends and have fun this summer! Camps take place at the arenas in Sunderland, Cannington and Beaverton weekdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m

Space is limited and late registrations will not be accepted.  Registration at the non-discounted rate for each week of camp closes at 12:00 p.m. (noon) the Friday prior to each week. (Example: Registration for Week 2 which begins July 9th, closes Friday at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on July 6, 2018)

2018 Municipal Election 


Nominations for the Township of Brock Municipal Election, which will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018, are being accepted for the following list of elected offices by completing the prescribed form in the Office of the Clerk. 

The last date to file a nomination form is Friday, July 27, 2018 (Nomination Day) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Mayor:
One (1) Member to be elected by general vote;

Regional Councillor:
One (1) Member to be elected by general vote;

Ward Councillors:
Five (5) Members to be elected by the electors of each of the five (5) Wards in the Township of Brock.

*Regional Chair
One (1) to be elected to represent the combined area of the Regional Municipality of Durham

*NOTE: Nominations will be received in the Clerk's office of the Regional Municipality of Durham, 605 Rossland Road East, Whitby, Ontario, L1N 6A3

One (1) Trustee to be elected to represent the combined areas of the Counties of Northumberland, Hastings, Peterborough, City of Kawartha Lakes, Peterborough (City), Quinte West (City), and Durham Region.

Nomination Procedures
Nominations are required to be submitted on the prescribed form (available at the Clerk's office), which must be endorsed by at least 25 persons who are eligible electors within the Township of Brock and shall be filed IN Person or by an Agent at the Clerk's office, Township of Brock Municipal Administration Building, 1 Cameron Street East, Cannington, Ontario, L0E 1E0, during normal office hours (8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) commencing Tuesday, May 1, 2018. 

Each filed nomination form must be accompanied with the prescribed nomination fee ($200 - Mayor and $100 - all other positions) payable by cash, certified cheque, money order, or debit only. No person who proposes to be a candidate may solicit or accept contributions for election purposes or incur campaign expenses until a nomination paper has been filed.


Registrations from Third Party Advertisers for the Election, which will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018, will be accepted by completing the prescribed form in the Office of the Clerk.

Qualifications
You may register as a Third Party Advertiser if you meet the following qualifications:
·         An individual who is normally a resident of Ontario;
·         A corporation that carries on a business in Ontario;
·         A trade union that holds bargaining rights for employees in Ontario.

Restrictions
The following are restricted from registering as a Third Party Advertiser:
  • A candidate whose nomination paper has been filed;
  • A federal political party registered under the Canada Elections Act or any federal constituency association or registered candidate at a federal election endorsed by that party;
  • A provincial political party, constituency association, registered candidate or leadership contestant under the Election Finances Act;
  • The Crown in right of Canada or Ontario, a municipality, or local board. 
Advertisements
Third Party Advertisements shall only be placed after the Third Party Advertiser has registered with the Clerk within each municipality where advertisements are to be placed.

Financial Obligations
Registered Third Party Advertisers are subject to spending limits and must file a financial statement.
