The IISE Annual Conference & Expo 2019 will take place May 18-21, 2019, at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, Florida. The QCRE Division of the Institute of the Institute of Industrial & Systems Engineers (IISE) will be sponsoring the QCRE Track at the 2019 IISE Annual Conference and Expo.
Students - Want a $100 discount to the IISE Annual Conference & Expo?

Hey students, how can you receive a $100 discount on your registration for the 2019 IISE Annual Conference and Expo? It's easy ... just volunteer ten hours of your time (2 five-hour shifts) to work at the registration desk, serve as a room host, or assist with stuffing conference bags. Contact Bill Gibbs, and he will send you the information you need to get set up to volunteer at the conference and receive your $100 discount!

The Annual Conference is a great place to start building your professional network. Maybe you'll meet the IISE officer whose network helped resurrect his career after a major downsizing. Or this one, whose volunteering helped her demonstrate leadership and management skills before professional opportunities came along, which allowed her to slide into a plum job with aplomb. (Both back when we were IIE)

A solid resume is nice ... but a network of ISEs who know your work ethic firsthand ... priceless!

So volunteer, save some dough and make the connections that can jump-start your career.

Message from the Editor

Greetings everyone!

I hope that everyone is having a great start to 2019!

In consideration of research areas of interest in relation to construction, the following video:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxQ9d4e75jg provides an interesting perspective into how Future Army Installations could operate in the year 2040 by depicting new technology tools that could potentially be used by a future Army Garrison Commander. The video is thought provoking in consideration of the scope of potential new technologies displayed, the challenges and associated future research ideas related to such new technologies, the role of Industrial Engineers, and how private industry installations/campuses could operate in the year 2040.

I look forward to hearing from others with regards to thoughts and interests in this research and other construction related research. Please feel free to share videos, articles or publications with members of the division.

I also wanted to remind everyone of the IISE Annual Conference at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando, FL on May 18 to 21, 2019. The conference provides a venue to meet our peers, learn about research and applications, and discover opportunities to help within the division. The Construction Division is always looking for volunteers. Please let us know if you are interested in getting involved. I look forward to seeing everyone in Orlando!

Sincerely,
Christina H. Rinaudo
