Dear Community,

It was big week in the North Penn School District (NPSD) community. Yesterday evening, 982 students graduated from North Penn High School (NPHS) and began an adventure called life. I want to thank the staff members in every one of our buildings and in all of the various positions for their work in preparing these young men and women for the experiences ahead.

Also important is the support these students received from their families and this community in general. We are lucky in NPSD to have families that are engaged and a community that invests in our students, programs and facilities. The success we celebrate in every child from kindergarten through 12th grade is attributed to their hard work and the support they receive.

The Class of 2018 Commencement marked my 9th year serving as NPSD Superintendent and conferring degrees to our graduates. Year after year, I have been impressed with high-caliber people, not just students, who walk across the stage and receive their diplomas.

We celebrate the myriad of academic awards received by our students, the colleges and trade schools they will be attending, and those who chose to serve our country or enter the business world. No matter the vocational or educational path they choose, I am confident that NPSD has prepared them well.

Equally important is ensuring our students more forward through adulthood upholding the universal values on which the NPSD experience is based. From civic responsibility and cooperation, to perseverance and respect, upholding these standards are crucial to one's success in all aspects of one's life.

My wish for our graduates is that they leave NPSD with fond memories of their time in our schools. I know I have enjoyed knowing them, for it's true we started at North Penn together. Members of the class of 2018 were in kindergarten when I started at NPSD in 2006 as assistant superintendent. Boy does time fly when you are dreaming big and achieving greatness!

Sincerely,

Curtis R. Dietrich, Ed.D.
Superintendent, NPSD

NPSD Says Goodbye to Class of 2018 Retirees

As another school year comes to a close, the NPSD will say goodbye to 67 beloved employees as they enter the well-earned, next chapter of their lives, retirement

In May, the district honored some of these employees at the annual NPSD Retiree Reception at PineCrest Country Club. Retirees, honored guests and members of the NPSD Board of Directors and NPSD Administration gathered to recognize, celebrate and give many thanks to the NPSD staff members retiring this year.

On behalf of the NPSD, we thank each of our retirees for their many years of dedication to the district and the countless students whom they had such a large impact on during their tenure. We wish you all a happy and relaxing retirement!

Congratulations to the NPSD Class of 2018 Retirees!

Inglewood Elementary School's fiery passion for giving back to the community burns so bright, not even the Towamencin Fire Company could put it out! Last month, Inglewood invited Towamencin first responders to help wrap up their Helping Hands Day drive. Through this initiative, each grade level collected items to donate to local community partners including Manna on Main Street, the Boys and Girls Club, Schwenkfeld Manor, Stray Cat Blues, Home at Last Dog Rescue and the Towamencin Police and Fire Companies. Home Baking Association Educator Award

The Pennbrook Baking Club has been whipping up more than just delicious treats during the 2017-2018 school year as advisors Cheryl Doyle and Louann Moos recently received the Home Baking Association Educator Award.

Each year, the Home Baking Association (HBA) awards outstanding educators in classrooms and communities who engage individuals, families and communities with the many educational benefits baking provides for personal, family or professional development. Now in its fourth year, the Pennbrook Middle School Baking Club provides both enjoyment and success for students, faculty and the community. The Baking Club consists of 20 Pennbrook upperclassmen students, as club advisors and Family and Consumer Science (FCS) teachers  Cheryl Doyle and Louann Moos require that members are in grades eight or nine.

'Cameron's Canteen' a hit at Walton Farm Elementary

Standing on the counter in the cafeteria at Walton Farm Elementary School is a bright orange example of how one student can make a difference.

"Cameron's Canteen" is a cooler filled each day with free water for students, thanks to six months of research and effort by third-grader Cameron Jones.

"I started the project because I wanted to know why so many sugary drinks were free, but water was something we had to pay for," said Cameron.
