Huntsville Assistance Program
The Social Justice Committee
has a goal to collect at least 100 items each month for the food pantry.
Please put your nonperishable food items or personal care products donations in the basket in the church foyer for the Huntsville Assistance Program.
They run low on cereal, canned fruit, mac and cheese, peanut butter, instant mashed potatoes, Hamburger Helper-type meals, and canned veggies -- but not green beans or corn.
They are always
grateful for our donations. Thank you for your continued generosity!

"Invisible: The Mental Health Crisis
in America"
Amanda Schuber
43.8 million Americans will have some sort of mental health challenge this year, yet our mental healthcare system is woefully unprepared to tackle the needs of this community. As Unitarian Universalists, we are called to act for justice and equality. While we have championed the cause of physical accessibility, what more can we do to make our denomination more accessible for caregivers and those living with mental health concerns?
Just us this Sunday as we explore and reflect more upon this topic.

It's game day! Bring favorite games to play with church friends and guests.

Social Saturday on March 23
Let's Do Lunch!
Our next Social Saturday will be held on March 23, from 11:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. This event is a casual social time for people to get together, share a meal, and chat - maybe find out that they share a common interest or need that can be met by another. Anything can happen when UUs get together! So plan to come and join the group. It is a both a potluck and a brown bag, so your choice to bring a dish to share, or keep it simple and brown-bag it.
Everyone is welcome, but seniors and new members are especially encouraged to attend, meet some folks, and feel like a part of our UUCH family. We hope to see you on March 23!

Building Our Future Together!
The
2019 UUCH Annual Budget Drive (ABD) has started with the theme of "Building Our Future Together!" This year we embark on our search for a new settled minister and build on the wise guidance we have been receiving from our current interim minister, Rev. Ed Brock. What an exciting time for UUCH!
Your support, my support, and all our support together are what make current and future programming possible at the church.
This year, we are introducing Stewardship Celebrations, which are shorter, larger, less formal cottage meetings that are scheduled from late March through early April in the homes of UUCH members. These meetings are here to give you an opportunity to hear directly from Rev. Ed about stewardship, our mission, and our upcoming search for a settled minister. You will also have an opportunity to complete your pledge forms while you enjoy food and fellowship with others who value and support the church.
Whether you are a long-time member or someone who only recently started coming to UUCH, your support is the key to all the great things we as a church can accomplish. The pledge form you'll fill out at the Stewardship Celebration, along with the pledge forms from everyone else, will be the basis for creating the annual operating budget for the 2019-20 church year that starts in July.
SIGN UP this Sunday in the church Fellowship Hall. Several of the meetings are designated as "CF" (child-friendly), so your whole family can attend. Any special diets will be accommodated so that everyone is welcome. We look forward to seeing each of you at a Stewardship Celebration!

"Wi$e Principles of
Personal Finance and the
Power of Financial Planning"
Do money worries cloud your focus or invade your sleep? Do money fights disrupt your relationships? Do you need help figuring out how to make ends meet? Do you want to get to the place where a missed paycheck is an inconvenience but not a crisis? Do you want to learn how to use money as a tool in living a contented, generous life?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, join us as we look at managing money as a spiritual practice. Through a book study and group discussion, we will look at attitudes about money and learn how to manage it in a way that leaves room for matters of the spirit.
This four-session Adult RE class will continue
every other Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Remaining sessions are
March 29 and April 12.
Everyone is welcome, so bring your friends! Parents, bring your teenagers! Married couples and life partners are strongly encouraged to attend together. Childcare will be provided.
Copies of the book and workbook are available courtesy of the Social Justice and Adult RE Committees.
Sign up in the Fellowship Hall, or email
Michelle Clark for more information
. Facilitators Bob Locklear and Michelle Clark look forward to seeing you there!

Are You Ready to
Become a Member?
If you've been attending UUCH long enough to know that this church community feels like your spiritual home, you may be ready to take the next step and become a member. On an upcoming Sunday, we will welcome new members as they "sign the book" and officially join our church.
If you are ready to become a member or would like to find out more about the process, please contact Membership Chair Pam Korb by March 24
.
RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERSHIP
Because we are a democratic community, members are collectively vested with responsibility for the congregation. Members may vote at all congregational meetings, be elected to the governing Board, be appointed as committee chairs, and participate in all activities of the congregation.
Because we are a covenanted congregation, members have certain responsibilities to the congregation and to each other. These responsibilities are best fulfilled by:
- Regular attendance at worship
- Voting at congregational meetings
- Making financial contributions
- Contributing time and talent
- Spiritual growth and development

Care List
This Sunday, March 17, 2019,
at our Circle of Candles:
Torin Kyemba lit a candle of joy: I have just been in a play called James and the Giant Peach. I give thanks to those who went to see it. That's why I wasn't here last Sunday. This summer I will go to a two-week summer camp called "Fantasy Playhouse." At the end, we will put on James and the Giant Peach, Jr. The end.
Suzey Delacey lit a candle of joy: The Delacey Tribe welcomes Ms. Ilene Sparks to Guntersville! She will be riding with us. That makes 6 UUs in Guntersville!
Addie Schuber lit a candle of joy: As me and Brayden are happy and grow, we will always love the church. We love all of you from our hearts.
Jo Broussard lit a candle of joy: Sarah Korb and family go university hunting this week.
Jo Broussard (on behalf of Susan and Tim Coddington and Family) lit a candle of joy: Goodbye to Susan's dear mother in a joyful service on Saturday.
Laurel and David Bollinger lit a candle: Please light a candle for Maren Bollinger, who has embarked on her grand Peace Corps adventure. She expects to spend two years in rural Jamaica, with an environmental project to help her community there thrive.
Denise Runnels lit a candle: Asking for prayers, thoughts of light, and positive energy to be offered for Monica Speed over the next couple of weeks and beyond. She will have brain surgery Tuesday, March 26, to remove a meningioma, expected to be non-malignant.
Heather Kyemba lit a candle of sorrow: My cousin, George Reed, was found dead in San Diego last month. His parents were notified Saturday. A sad end to a difficult life.
Addie Schuber lit a candle of joy: We have made new friends at camp and met helpers who help me when I get hurt.
