Mark your calendars for Sunday, May 13, and plan to celebrate Mother's Day at VRBC! We will share a special time of worship, including a time to honor the special women in our lives, as well as a special baptism celebration. There will be hospitality for everyone and a special gift for all women. Invite someone to join you and arrive early for the festivities!

AN UPDATE FROM PASTOR LARRY
Perhaps you have heard by now that Bill Hybels has resigned as pastor of Willow Creek Community Church and leader of the Global Leadership Summit amidst allegations of sexual misconduct.
I wanted to let you know how saddened I have been by the situation that has taken place at Willow Creek Community Church, the sponsoring church of the Global Leadership Summit we've hosted over the last eight years. To read my full statement on the issue, please click here.

If you are new to VRBC, you are invited to a Newcomers Reception in your
honor! At this informal 30-minute gathering after the worship service on Sunday, May 6
, you'll have the opportunity to get to know some of our church staff,
as well as to meet others who are new to the church. We promise you will
receive great hospitality and food, PLUS a chance to win some cool prizes. No
RSVP is required to attend--just come!
The reception will be held at the east end of the church lobby.
Children of all ages are welcome to
attend, so please pick up your children after the worship service and bring them
with you to the reception.

STUDENT PASTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE
AN UPDATE FROM PASTOR JORDAN
We very are pleased to announce that the Church Council (at the recommendation of the Ministry Placement Committee) has unanimously voted to confirm and commission the Search Team for our next Pastor of Student Ministries. As the Search Team begins meeting this week to set the scope and plan for the search, we covet your prayers for God's guidance, wisdom, and provision. To ensure that the highest possible candidates are fielded and vetted, we anticipate the search lasting several months. But rest assured that our Search Team is eager to diligently begin the search process.
We have a great Search Team, representing a cross-section of current and future parents/leaders in the Student Ministry. Chairing our Search Team and representing the Finance/HR Committee is
Deke Knowlton. Representing the Church Council and Staff is Jordan Schumacher. We are also very pleased to include
Leia Spoor, Karen McCord, Ken Bass, Jamie Cato, and Scot Albert, who all bring unique giftedness, experience and leadership to the team.
In the coming weeks, we will keep you updated on the status/progress of the search.
