The heat is on...
We survived summer's first heat wave, and many of us are still sewing! We hear from a lot of you that you either have a fan blowing directly on you while you sew, or you have an air conditioner in the window of your sewing room. Excellent! We know what's important - creating beautiful new things. And rain, snow, wind, hurricanes or heat waves won't stop us.

When you need to build your stash, shop for a project, or just look for inspiration, make sure you stop in and see us. We're always working on something new, and we often have ideas or tips to help you out when you have questions. Most importantly, we keep the shop at 71 degrees - all summer! It's lovely in here...

Summer Class - Last Chance!

We've posted this class in the last several newsletters, and it's gotten a lot of interest - so much so that there are only two spots remaining!

Marty's class will be held Saturday, August 25, from 10-4. You'll need your machine, your materials, and your lunch - it's a busy day of sewing, and you'll go home with your rug mostly complete! To sign up, call the shop, or click here to register online. There is a supply list on the web site. It'll be a fun day!

Flutterby

These two prints make us think of little girl dresses! Make bibs or pillowcases, or add some accents and a background to create an adorable baby quilt.

Emma's Garden
by Maywood Studio

A good purple can be so difficult to find - it's why purple is our smallest collection in the shop. These lovely prints can be the star attraction of your next project!. Make a runner, a tablecloth, a throw, or a bed quilt - some, or all, of these will make it beautiful!

Open Sky
by Clothworks

Almost every day, we have customers coming into the store in search of "Vermont" fabric - sometimes cows, but mostly, people are looking for wild animals, and wilderness. These prints will help that "Vermont" quilt along nicely.

Batiks

by Hoffman

And you thought all the visitors from VQF decimated our batik inventory...nope! These came last week, and brought some new life back to that section of the shop. There are some really great, new prints from Hoffman here - things we haven't ever seen before!

Classic Shirtings c. 1800s

from Washington Street Studio

by P&B Textiles

It's always good to have a few extra shirtings in your stash to use as backgrounds in your scrappy Reproduction quilts. We can use another blue or two, right?

Elephant Garden

by Clothworks

This group looks very much like it arrived from India - which it did not! The elephant print (top in photo) has some bling, as does the triangle print below it. The floral (bottom in photo) is full of pretty colors, so you can make it a focus fabric in almost any project you want!

Various lines

by Timeless Treasures

Use the rich, fabulous border print (top/center in photo) to make a 60-degree runner in no time! We've all been admiring the color and design of every fabric in this group. It almost makes you want to sew something for fall...

Elementals: Petals

from Artisan Batiks

by Robert Kaufman

These prints are just so pretty! Since they're basically tone-on-tone, they will work in almost any batik project you've got going. Some of us at the shop might be adding all five of these to our stashes!

Notions, News, & Other Notes

Marty's been ordering the patterns for the shop for a while now, and she makes sure we have a good mix - something for everyone. She just couldn't resist this super-cute pattern,  A Tale of Two Gnomes, from No. 2 Abbey Lane. Aren't they adorable? And the pattern includes instructions for two quilts!
