The 2020 national elections are over, but a new political season is already underway. In 2021 there will be elections for a number of important NYC municipal offices, with a primary election coming up in June. So our club has already begun a series of meetings – all on Zoom, of course – to meet candidates and hear them speak. These meetings are a great opportunity to learn candidates’ views on issues that are important to all of us. After each meeting, the club holds an endorsement vote.
At our November 11 club meeting, we heard candidates for City Council 7 and District Leaders. Congratulations to Daniel Marks Cohen for winning the endorsement of Three Parks Independent Democrats for City Council District 7, and to Cynthia Doty and Bob Botfeld for our endorsement as District Leaders. They all won by a landslide. The full voting results appear elsewhere in this newsletter.
In December, we will have two club meetings. The first one, which you can join using the link in this newsletter, will take place on Wednesday, Dec. 2, and will feature candidates for NYC Comptroller and Manhattan Borough President.

Democratic State Committee Report
By Daniel Marks Cohen
Thank you! I am deeply grateful for the club’s endorsement last week of my campaign for City Council. As you all know, I am seeking to succeed Mark Levine in the 7th district next year, who is term-limited and running for Manhattan Borough President. I was elected to the political office of State Committeeman for the 69th Assembly District in 2010 with Three Parks support, and reelected several times since then, including just last year. I am deeply gratified to have the club’s overwhelming support again, this time for public office. Thank you so very much.
For nearly three decades I have been a member of Three Parks and I am a lifelong resident of the community, now for 50 years. I was recruited to the club shortly after I graduated college in 1992 by then-District Leader Phil Reed, who I had met on the street at a block party that summer. I would subsequently become Phil’s treasurer on his successful Council campaign and also served as President of Three Parks for five years. Throughout the past 30 years I have connected with friends in the club as we celebrated our victories and mourned our losses, through storefronts, picnics and holiday parties. Through phone banks and postcards, letters and literature, palm cards and poll watching. And now with Zoom through the COVID pandemic. Through it all.

Help Georgia Senate Candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock!
As we all know, control of the U.S. Senate now hinges on two run-off races in Georgia. The outcome could determine whether the Biden administration will succeed in enacting the progressive agenda we support. So let’s pitch in and help Senate candidates Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock!
Club members who wish to phone bank now for Jon Ossoff are encouraged to sign up with the Mobilize system by clicking here. Once you sign up with Mobilize, you will receive a link to the phone bank. The system is easy to use, and the Ossoff campaign offers regular training sessions, usually at 6:00 PM each evening. For further information, you can contact TPID Board member Corinne Constantine by clicking here.
Three Parks is also exploring other phone banking and postcard-writing opportunities for both Ossoff and Warnock. Watch your email in the coming days for announcements and further details.
