VIKTORYIA TABUNSHCHYK- U18 PROVINCIAL CHAMPION
- AN ONGOING SUCCESS STORY

At ACE we have been fortunate to meet so many kids who fulfill the Ace motto of "Discipline, Pride and Courage" -  Vita Tabunshchyk, who recently won the OTA U18 Provincials is one of those players. We have seen her growing up from a 9 year old who could do 1000 sit ups, who won national championships, who represented Canada in international competition, but who knew that education was the answer to her future. Vita has been accepted on a tennis scholarship to the reputable private research university MIT starting this fall.

Rita Colyer U18 Provincial Singles Finalist and Doubles Champion

STRONG PERFORMANCE FROM RITA COYLER AS U18 SINGLES FINALIST AND DOUBLES CHAMPION
A big congratulations to Rita Colyer on winning the U18 Provincial doubles title and reaching the finals of the singles competition. Rita, who recently turned 18 years old has been with ACE since the age of 12. Rita has always been considered as a player with a great deal of potential as she stands at 6 feet 2 inches and has a great serve to go with her size. Having battled through a number of tough injuries in her career, Rita has been able to overcome the obstacles thrown at her and is really coming to her own, playing the best tennis of her life in her last year of junior competition. Rita has committed to play tennis at the  University of San Francisco and will be starting her new journey on a tennis scholarship this fall.

PROVINCIALS U16 TEAM IN OTTAWA

Victor Hoang

Coaches Victor Hoang and wife Flavia Nagayama, chaperoned the ACE Team to the U16 Provincials in Ottawa. The road trips to tournaments is something that the players always look forward to. The long drives in the van, the snapchats they send to each other - even though they are riding in the same van - staying in a hotel and the memories they create will stay with them for a lifetime. Flavia and I had the privilege to travel with 7 players to Ottawa for the U16 Provincials. Even though, for half of the group, this was their first time competing at the Provincials, everyone did a very good job of respecting the rules that were set out. For many, this was a great learning experience as they got to compete against the best players in Ontario for this age category and so many positive lessons learned. Jaida Borg and Sarah Liu had strong showings as both finished in the top 12.
MORE STRONG PERFORMANCES

VICKY MBOKO AND NEMANJA STEFANOVIC - STRONG RESULTS IN THE U14
What a great week ACE players had at White Oaks as up and coming stars Vicky Mboko and Nemanja Stefanovic put on impressive performances at the U14 Provincials. Vicky, who is only 11 years old, was the girls Singles Champion and Doubles Finalist. At such a young age, Vicky showed what a fierce competitor she is as she showed no fear competing against girls that were 2 or 3 years older than her. On the boy s side, Nemanja Stefanovic had himself a breakout tournament. Being unseeded and having to battle through sickness, Nemanja showed  a lot of grit and determination to reach both the singles and doubles finals. With his impressive run, Nemanja has catapulted himself in the rankings into a top 5 position in Ontario and top 10 in Canada. Both Vicky and Nemanja will be representing ACE and Ontario in the Under 14 National Championships in Vancouver.

ANGELINA STOYANOVA
Angelina has been training with ACE for 2 years now. During this time, Angelina has improved all aspects of her game - the Mental, Physical, Technical, and Tactical areas - due to her persistent hard work, attention to detail, and consistent effort through her practices. Congratulations to Angie for making the top 16 in the OTA U18 Provincial, and most recently, winning the U16 Provincial Circuit at ACE Tennis without dropping a set!

OLIVIA HALVORSEN
recently competed in the U14 Provincial Championships which was held at White Oaks Health Club in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Despite recently injuring her knee during training, Olivia worked hard to recover and ended up having her best provincials result ever, 9-12th place. Her performance was highlighted by winning a very tight opening round match 7-6, 6-4 where she saved 3 set points in the first set. After the tournament, she realized there's still more improvement needed in order to take her game to another level and the plan has been set in place to make this happen. Keep up the great work Olivia!

THE KAHNAMOUI FAMILY'S YOUNGEST MEMBER ARYANAH KAHNAMOUI
recently competed in the U12 Provincial Championships.  Despite a disappointing opening match, Aryanah regrouped very quickly and went on to win four matches in a row, including three over higher ranked opponents. She eventually finished 7-8th place, her best provincial result ever. This result, combined with a quarter-finalist result at National Selection #2 was just enough for her to squeeze into the final Team Ontario spot at the National Championships in Calgary. All three children in the Kahnamoui clan ; Versailla (15), Xavier (13), and Aryanah (11) have progressed through the Ace Burlington Competitive stream from the "ground up", to Champions to Provincial, and now the National program. Pretty much all of our coaches have worked with one, two or all three of the Kahnamoui kids in a program at some point over the last 10 years. Sarah (their mom - a former nurse) who is also an Ace staple - can be seen many days at Cedar Springs at 6 am when she brings the kids for the International morning program, and again at 6 pm when she gathers the "troops " after the National afternoon practice; meanwhile father Kam (a trauma surgeon) is busy at Hamilton General. All three children have excelled in a variety of sports, but tennis is their focus -
Versailla having some solid recent results, participating in both the U16 and U18 Provincial Championships, Aryanah currently competing in the U12 Nationals in Vancouver, and Xavier recommitting himself to his tennis training - finishing 2nd in the U14 Super Series Doubles event with Uvan Patel - the Kahnamouis are here to stay!
