Eight of the 15 candidates declared for the office of Governor of Oklahoma will appear for a debate this Saturday, April 28, sponsored by Freedom of Information Oklahoma. FOI-O president Joe Wertz (of StateImpact Oklahoma) will emcee the evening's program, and KGOU general manager and member of the FOI-O board of directors Dick Pryor will moderate the debate along with KWTV's Alex Cameron.

Candidates scheduled to participate include Democrat Drew Edmondson, Republicans Christopher Barnett, Dan Fisher, Gary A. Jones and Blake Cowboy Stephens, and Libertarians Joe Exotic, Rex L. Lawhorn and Chris Powell. KGOU will record the debate and broadcast it during our Sunday Radio Matinee on May 6 at 12 p.m.

Spring Fundraising Update: Finishing the Fiscal Year

Since we concluded our on-air spring fundraising drive, donations are continuing to come in online and through the mail. So far in 2018, KGOU donors have pledged a total of $208,741, from 1309 individual contributions. Thank you, donors!

In comparison with spring of last year (which was one for the record books!) we're just off the pace. Spring 2017 had $215,700 pledged at this point in the year, from 1535 contributions. If you haven't contributed, spring isn't over yet -- there's still time to help KGOU finish the fiscal year in great shape.

Intelligence Squared U.S. debates the question "As We Evolve, Do We Need God Less?" on the next Sunday Radio Matinee, April 29 at 12 p.m.
