ASB Banquet Takes Students
on a Magic Carpet Ride
As high school students entered the EAA auditorium on Sunday, February 24, they were transported to a colorful Mediterranean world of Arabian Nights, magic lamps, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves.  Senior Zoe Grant reports that ASB did a great job with all of the decorations, the atmosphere and the food. Diane Whitley, English Teacher, says that this was the BEST banquet meal she’s ever experienced at EAA.  But, that was not the end of the evening. Soon, the Magic Carpet, (aka Coach Bus) arrived and the group soared off to the San Diego Civic Theater to enjoy the hit Broadway Disney Musical, Aladdin. Matthew Furnish (Senior) said, “The staging was great for the show and all the actors really gave a wonderful performance.”  Thanks so all involved who organized this unforgettable, magical evening.  Link to "Aladdin"
Reading is "FUN"damental
"Is there an AR test for this book?" Bet you've heard that question from your child! Accelerated Reader is the motivating testing software used in grades two through eight here at EAA.  The next time you hear that question, use this link for a quick answer:   http://www.arbookfind.com/
Here is another link that supplies a parents' guide for getting much more information from AR:   AR-Bookfinder-Parents-Guide
Look for collections and award books.

Encourage your child to discover the fun in reading as they meet their AR requirements.
“Oh, the places they will go” in the pages of a book!
EAA Student leader attends Laurels for Leaders award ceremony at San Dieogo State University
On February 20, 2019, Benji Rangel, Associated Student Body President, was among nearly 100 high school leaders in San Diego County to be honored at the annual  Laurels for Leaders  luncheon held on the SDSU campus.

Laurels for Leaders  was established in 1957 as a way to publicly recognize the behind-the-scenes work done by ASB Presidents.  Students are given opportunities for networking with other students as well as community and business leaders from San Diego County.   It is hoped that this experience fosters a life-long involvement in leadership for these students.

Participants were awarded a monetary gift as well as a certificate and medallion. Thank you, Benji, for being such a great representative of EAA!

EAA Goes to the Movies
Coming to a church near you, EAA will be featured in a new promotional video soon to be released by Summertime Productions, based out of Riverside, CA. The vision for this video is to concentrate on three main aspects of EAA life: Christ-Centered Education, Proven Academic Success and A Diverse and Exciting Community. Summertime Productions was on campus for two days filming classes, interviews and student and teacher interaction as they captured what it means to be part of the EAA family.

The video will be used to promote EAA in the constituent churches and will be available on the school website to introduce parents who are looking for a school home, to the great things happening at EAA. So, keep an eye out for this Oscar-worthy story of EAA, scheduled to be released in March. Special thanks to Rick High for spearheading this project.
Lions, Tigers, Bears and Big Buddies! OH MY!
Each week throughout the school year, the Religion II and TK/K/1 classes get together and develop friendships. So, what do you get when you take students in grades TK/K/1 and pair them with their Big Buddies from Religion II for a Field Trip?  An awesome day exploring all of God’s creatures at the Safari Park. This annual trip to Safari Park gives opportunity for bonding between these two groups within the EAA family. The “Little Buddies” were heard to make such remarks as…”The elephants were my favorite.” “The baby cheetahs and tiny foxes were so cute!” “I loved the bird show!” “I loved the tigers!” Thanks Pastor Gabe and Mrs. Zimmerman for helping EAA be a terrific family!
Science at a glance
  • Just like Gregor Mendel, the father of genetics, AP Bio is tracking traits in pea plants.

  • APES class is exploring rocks and minerals from chemical composition to use rates. Did you know that three countries (the United States, Canada and Russia) with only 8 percent of the world's population consumes about 75 percent of the world's most widely used metals?

Congratulations to EAA's Science Department for obtaining a 2018-19 Hess Toy Grant! The science lab will soon become the proud owner of 12 STEM Kits for use in Physical Science class.
