On Friday, June 15th our school community will conclude the 2017-2018 school year in grateful praise and worship at a concluding Liturgy that will be celebrated at
10:00 a.m. at St. John Neumann Church.
Students will be dismissed at 12:00 NOON.
What a wonderful year this has been! As we look back over the past ten months, we swell in joy for the many blessings that our Lord has bestowed upon our students, our staff and our families. Thank you to all for your support! We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable summer.
LAST DAY OF AFTERCARE
Please remember that the LAST DAY of AfterCare will be THURSDAY, JUNE 14TH! There is NO AfterCare on Friday, June 15th.
PERSONNEL CHANGES
We would like to thank Mrs. Bennett for her years in Christian Ministry at our school. She has decided to move forward in her career in a direction different than education. Mrs. Bennett will be missed for her energy and enthusiasm. We are currently seeking a Spanish teacher.
We would also like to thank Mrs. Wiest for her years of Christian Ministry at our school. She has also decided to more forward in her career in other directions. Mrs. Wiest has served our school well and we wish her the best.
We would like to welcome Mr. Davis Lee Ruark as our fourth grade teacher. Mr. Ruark comes to us from Bennett High School where he was an Earth and Space Science Teacher. Prior to that, Mr. Ruark taught at Cosimir Catholic School in Baltimore and prior that he taught elementary science in Prince George's County, Maryland. Mr. Ruark promises to bring a positive outlook, enthusiasm and creativity to his 4th grade class. He will be a most welcomed member of our faculty.
SUMMER WORK
Our teachers will be forwarding to parents the expectations for summer work. The information will be provided to the students prior to the last day of school. In addition to the summer work that is being sent to each family, our teachers will assemble math practice packets that will be available in the school office throughout the summer. Parents may come in to pick up a packet. Math work is a requirement for ALL students. Worksheets are also available on the school's website. Students who complete the work will receive credit for doing so.
SUMMER OFFICE HOURS
Beginning on June 18th, the school office will observe summer hours. In doing so, our school office will be open each day from 8:30 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The school office will be closed on Fridays.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Ava Snelsire and MaryAnn Rutzler who on Saturday, June 9th will be presented with the Girl Scout Diocese of Wilmington Anchor Award by Bishop Malooly. Congratulations also goes out to MadaLynne Rutzler, who will be presented with the Girl Scout Diocese of Wilmington Cross Award. The presentation will be held at St. Margaret of Scotland in Newark, Delaware.

Many, many thanks to everyone who contributed to the Eighth Grade Awards Luncheon. Special thanks to Mrs. Carlson and Mrs. Edmunds for their leadership as Homeroom Parents. Special thanks, also, to Mio Fratello Restaurant(Bryan and Angela Keith) for their donation of a delicious menu for the luncheon. We would also like to express our appreciation to Mrs. Selba who served as a eighth grade advisor. Mrs. Selba worked tirelessly to provide our students with a memorable eighth grade year.
LOST ITEMS
With the end of the school year quickly approaching, be sure to check out the Lost and Found in the cafeteria for any missing item of clothing or other school supplies. All items that remain in the Lost and Found will be donated to charity on Thursday, June 14th.
SCHOOL UNIFORM POP-UP SHOP
Attached below is a flyer from Flynn Ohara regarding our Pop-Up Shop, which will be held on July 18th at MBS from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., as well as a list of your uniform requirements with pricing. Parents, please mark their calendars to attend our event! Also, our used uniform closet will be open throughout the summer office hours for your swapping.
NEW FAMILY MENTORING PROGRAM 2018-2019
We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to give their time and talent to assist us in our New Family Mentoring Program. The purpose of this program is to be able to give our new
families a contact to go to if they have questions or are unsure of something. This would give our new families a comfort of knowing that we are a school community and are here to welcome them with open arms. Thank you for your willingness to help and be there for these new families to make the new school year as easy and comfortable a transition as it can be for them.
For your time and talent, we will give 10 FIP hours towards the 2018-2019 school year, which will be applied at the beginning of the 3rd trimester. For more questions about the Mentoring Program or if you would like to sign up to be a Mentor, please contact [email protected] or call the school office.
HEALTH SUITE NEWS
If you are taking your child to their primary care providers for physicals, please remember any student entering in kindergarten or 4th grade next year will need a physical from the doctor's office. The physical may have been conducted as early as October 2017 of last year to count for your physical for the 2018-2019 school year. If you send in the completed physical form, it will be filed for next year.
If your child has any new immunizations, please send verification to the nurse as soon as possible. There are
New Immunization Requirements for students entering 7th grade. They need Tdap (single dose) and Meningococcal (single dose). The immunizations required for students entering kindergarten are DtaP (4 doses), Polio (3 doses), MMR (2 doses), Varicella (2 doses) and Hep B (3 doses). These immunization requirements are from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
The end of the year is HERE. Parents must pick up any unused medication at the end of the school year. Medication that is not collected by the parent will be discarded. If you have any questions, please contact the school nurse @ 410-208-1600.

Socialize with other parents and enjoy items from their delicious menu while the kids have fun on the huge outdoor beach play ground. De Lazy Lizard, owned by our very own Bosley family, will generously donate 20% of the proceeds back to MBS! So come, enjoy the beautiful Island themed indoor/outdoor restaurant on the water and start summer vacation while celebrating with our MBS family! As another academic year draws to a close the HSA Executive Board would like to thank all of our volunteers and MBS families for the time, talents and treasures you have shared with us this past year. It is hard to believe our school year is coming to a close. It has been a joy to work with our MBS students this year. We have such sweet and loving children at MBS. I will keep our students, families and staff in my prayers to have a nice, relaxing and restful Summer. MONDAY, JUNE 11, AT 7 PM, IN THE ST. JUDE PARISH CHAPEL
"Peace on Earth" hangs much in the balance in our time - especially among near and far eastern nations, like North Korea, whose ominously emergent nuclear capabilities and militant antagonisms threaten humanity with cataclysmic global catastrophe.
This historic meeting of President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un, therefore, can prove decisive for the containment of such hostile and deadly armament and for the greater assurance of security and peace for all humanity.
The meeting of the leaders is planned for Tuesday, June 12, in Singapore, whose time zone is twelve hours ahead of ours. We will, therefore, hold our vigil on Monday, June 11, at 7 pm, our time, which would adequately anticipate the meeting in Singapore whether it occurs earlier or later on Tuesday, Singapore time - while taking place at a time here in Lewes convenient for participants.
In earnest response to Our Lady of Fatima's ardent plea for prayer, especially the Rosary, "to obtain peace for the world and the end of war," please plan to spend an hour in supplication, along with other prayerful brethren, before the Real Eucharistic Presence of Jesus - Lord of Heaven and Earth - to beseech His sovereign intervention that there be "on earth, peace to men of good will."
