What:  The Convention & Visitors Bureau is implementing a tour guide certification program. The program consists of a 2-hour classroom session and a 2 - 3 hour driving session (practice giving a tour while driving the route). After the completion of the program, you will receive a letter of certification. All certified guides will be placed on the CVB contact list for tour requests. Any time a CVB guide provides a tour to a group, they will receive compensation. This training is something you will only have to do once.

With Main Street Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, DPI presents the Open 4 Business competition for a for-profit business locating in downtown Burlington. Three chosen local applicants will pitch their business concepts to DPI, with the winner competing to be a semifinalist in June for a chance at $8,000. Livestrong at the YMCA  
What:  A 12 week small-group exercise program designed for adult cancer survivors who have become de-conditioned or chronically fatigued as a result of their treatment or disease. While the main goal is to enhance physical functioning (flexibility, strength and endurance) additional goals include reducing the severity of treatment side effects, preventing unwanted weight changes, improving energy levels and boosting self-esteem.  The class is free and includes a membership to the Y during the program.

Rx Burn Workshop  
What:  Learn how to conduct prescribed burns as a volunteer with Des Moines County Conservation. This course will go over the basics of burning in grasslands and forests as a natural resource management practice.
