Growing up, Scarlin Hernandez faced down the naysayers who wanted her to believe her dreams were impossible. She earned an NSF scholarship, graduated with a degree from Capitol, and is currently a spacecraft engineer for NASA's flagship mission, the James Webb Space Telescope. She is also a tireless advocate for diversity in STEM fields. In an interview for Capitol, Scarlin talks about her academic and career paths, what she finds most rewarding about her field, and why she believes "you are truly in control of your own destiny."
