Community Cat Update: December
In early December, the Humane Society of Charlotte received a call from a teacher at Ardrey Kell High School. Two cats took up residency under the mobile classrooms during the summer. Before long, these two cats began to multiply and the students noticed new kittens playing and meowing during all hours of the school day. School administration decided the cats could stay, but they needed to take action to control the growing population. HSC was able to trap 6 cats for our Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program. A seventh kitten was too small for surgery, so HSC decided to place her in our foster program and put her up for adoption after she had been socialized. This is the first official kitten that was pulled from the TNR program for adoption.
During the month of December, HSC helped trap a total of 45 cats for our Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program.
