MNDOT
Marshall Safety Demonstration Project

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is partnering with the city of Marshall to test a safety
project along Hwy
19/College Dr. for people who walk and bike.
The project being temporarily installed is a median island refuge at Hwy 19/College Dr. and High
Street (near the school). An example of the project is pictured below. A median refuge island
allows people who walk and bike the ability to cross only one lane of traffic at a time, which
shortens the distance for crossing and provides a refuge.

The project will be installed the week of Sept. 14ᵗʰ and will be in place for approximately 30
days. During the 30 days we
ask that you take some time to try out the project and provide us with your comments. After 30
days, the projects will be removed.
To give us your feedback on this project, a short survey is available at
the back of this letter) and send to MnDOT District 8 or drop off at Marshall City Hall (temporary
location) at 1501 State St. SS 141 (SMSU). Paper surveys are also available at Marshall City Hall
(temporary location). Thank you in advance for your feedback about the potential safety
enhancement.
If you have any questions about the project, please visit the project website or contact Lindsey
Bruer, Planning Director.

City of Marshall and Visit Marshall launches the “Cultivating Your Comeback” Marketing Campaign

Visit Marshall and the City of Marshall is launching their “Cultivating Your Comeback” marketing Campaign. This campaign is asking local Marshall businesses to submit their COVID plan onto the www.CultivatingMarshall.com website. This will show that we, as a community are prepared with safe measures, and following governor guidelines. We are hoping that it will make visitors feel safe to come back to town to eat, shop, explore and stay in Marshall. “When you submit your plan, you will get a pack of marketing materials to help show that we are coming together as a community to show that we are prepared.” said Visit Marshall Director Cassi Weiss. The pack of marketing materials will include a window cling, PDF of the campaign guidelines, and digital logos for social media and website.

Visit Marshall will also be using this campaign for marketing around the area, to try to promote visitors to come back to town. “The goal is to make this a 1-2 year marketing campaign that will adjust with what’s going on as the state orders change our campaign will change” said Weiss.

Businesses can submit their plans now on the www.CultivatingMarshall.com and will be given their marketing packet once submitted. Visit Marshall and the City of Marshall say that the “Cultivating Your Comeback” campaign isn’t just about our visitor’s comeback, but our locals getting back into the local shops, and our businesses comeback to success.
