NEPA MPO Announces Opening of TIP Public Comment Period
|
Public Meeting Will Be Held on July 17, 2018
|
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance (NEPA), designated by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for Carbon, Monroe, Pike and Schuylkill counties, is developing its 2019-2022 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The draft 2019-2022 TIP documents can be viewed
here. The TIP identifies the region's highest priority transportation projects, develops a multi-year program of implementation and identifies available federal and non-federal funding for the programmed project phases.
A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. at the Monroe County Transportation Authority, 134 MCTA Drive, Swiftwater, PA 18370. Additional meeting locations that will have remote access to the public meeting are listed below.

DCED Multimodal Transportation Fund Grant Program
|
Application Period Closes on July 31, 2018
|
The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) is currently accepting applications for funding through its Multimodal Transportation Fund for 2018-2019. The application period closes on July 31, 2018.
Funding can be used to coordinate local land use with transportation assets to enhance existing communities; for projects related to streetscapes, lighting, sidewalk enhancement and pedestrian safety; for projects improving connectivity or utilization of existing transportation assets and for projects related to transit-oriented development. Municipalities, counties, school districts, economic development organizations, public transportation agencies, ports, rail freight and passenger rail entities are eligible to apply. A local match of 30% is required.

The NEPA PTAC held its annual Government Contracting Showcase on June 7, 2018 at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in Pocono Manor. The half day event was well attended with 21 exhibitors, including representatives from economic development, government agencies, and private businesses. The Showcase attracted over 100 attendees and was deemed to be a great resource and beneficial by those in attendance.
The event opened with the Morning Keynote Speaker, Mark "Hawk" Thomas, Esq., Managing Partner, Reid Law PC, and was concluded by the Luncheon Keynote Speaker, Secretary Curt Topper of the Pennsylvania Department of General Services.
Additionally, the NEPA Alliance presented its "PTAC Client of the Year Award" to Northeast Infrastructure, LLC.

Business Finance Specialist
This is a full-time, salaried position within the Business Development Services Division. Responsibilities include marketing of business finance programs, developing business relationships with clients, financial institutions and economic development agencies, developing loan packages, processing loan applications, reviewing financial data, and presenting financing packages to various Loan Committees, loan servicing and preparation of various reports.
Government Procurement Manager
This is a full-time, salaried position within the Business Development Division. Responsibilities include providing internal operational assistance, networking with clients, providing technical, marketing and informational assistance to businesses regarding government contracting opportunities and assisting their expansion or entry into contracting with federal, state and local governments.

NEPA Alliance Business Finance Corp. SBA 504 Loan
$340,000 to Construct a Brew Pub in Luzerne County
|
|
NEPA Alliance has several loan products available for small businesses in Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill and Wayne Counties.
These low cost, low interest loans offer reduced down payments and standard loan term maturities for machinery and equipment, land and building acquisition, construction and renovation. Loan rates are fixed and generally below the prime lending rate.
Eligible businesses include Manufacturers, Industrial, Agriculture/Agribusiness, Hospitality & Tourism Related Enterprises, Recyclers, Day Cares, Computer Related Services, Advanced Technology, and Retail and Service Related Businesses. Other business sectors may also qualify.
NEPA Alliance Business Finance Corporation has Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 loans available for eligible small businesses in Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill and Wayne Counties.
Financing Structure
A bank or other lender finances 50% of the project cost and takes a first lien position on the assets financed. The SBA 504 loan finances 40% of the project cost up to $5.5 million and takes a second lien position. The borrower then contributes a down payment of as little as 10%.
