February is a month created by the Romans originally called februarius. It was a time of cleansing, purification and atonement. In modern times it is a month dedicated to celebrating love, both romantic love as well as love for all humanity.
Master Choa Kok Sui taught us a powerful mantra that accomplishes both goals. Not only does the mantra cleanse and purify us when reciting it, the mantra also sends out waves of loving compassion and kindness to any sentient being that stands in close proximity to us. By merely chanting its words, the ions in the air are positively changed around us, causing all beings to experience a lift in their vibrational field.
This mantra is called "Om Mani Padme Om" and it was gifted to humanity by the Lord Bodhisattva Kuan Yin. Om Mani Padme Hum is a powerful mantra and prayer that is imbued with tremendous Love, Mercy, and Compassion. It is said to contain all of the teachings of the Buddha in just this one phrase. Roughly translated it means "I bow to the Jewel which resides in the Lotus."
"Om" refers to the Divine Vibration of the Universe. Chanting "Om" increases the pranic energy around our prayers and mantras making them more effective.
"Mani" refers to the Jewel. Just as the jewel has the ability to dispel poverty and financial burdens, the jewel in the mantra has a purifying quality, removing those obstacles that hold us back on our spiritual journey.
"Padme" refers to the Lotus which signifies the Wisdom that becomes available to us after purification has been achieved, just as a lotus flower blooms from the mud yet is unaffected by the mud.
"Hum" is similar to Amen, or So be It.
We acknowledge that Enlightened Wisdom arises out of Pure Indivisible Spirit.
So as we enter the energies of February of cleansing, purification and increasing our loving kindness, let us add Om Mani Padme Hum to our daily spiritual practices to enhance and deepen our meditation. This blessed mantra has been handed down to us over the ages, chanted in holy places by generations of monks and sages. It carries the energy of all those practitioners who have walked the path before us to light our way.
If you have a busy schedule and you need peace and love, if you are emotionally disturbed and you need emotional healing, if you want to help your fellow men by becoming a channel of world peace, if you want to cleanse and purify your aura and chakras of negativities, if you want to invoke the blessing of Lord Bodhisattva Kuan Yin, utilize this mantra as part of your spiritual practice.
Master Choa, in his spiritual wisdom, taught us the importance of Om Mani Padme Hum that is the foundation of Pranic Healing. Let us, in turn, honor him in applying this mantra in our daily meditations.
