Try Something New this Summer

- Veggie Rx -
Like the sound of a prescription for fruits and vegetables?

Same Canoe has been awarded funds to expand its Veggie Rx program to now serve SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, Veterans, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander high-need individuals.

Join Veggie Rx through a participating clinic this summer and you may also qualify for a local area CSA program at no cost.

Space is limited so see your  clinic in July.

If your PCP is at one of the clinics listed below and you have a dietary need that warrants a prescription for more fresh fruits and vegetables, talk to your Doc and health care team.
After July 1st, Veggie Rx coupons can now be directly distributed by our partner clinics to qualifying patients.

Spiced it Up!

On May 20th, Same Canoe hosted a Spice talk story at the Kohala Library that was filled to the brim with spice curious enthusiasts.  We examined familiar and exotic spices that grow in Hawaii and learned about their culinary and medicinal uses.

Same  Canoe's North Kohala  Farm Tour Day was Great Fun

On June 2nd, a crew of local food supporters from around the island came to North Kohala
and  visited two farms with special culinary treats by Nani Svendsen of Fresh Off the Grid
(u'lu chowder) and Chef Bellec  of the Four Seasons (kale and green bean salad with goat cheese).
The engaging event saw over two dozen people attend for a great day on the land.

Special thanks to Inhabit, Star Seed Ranch, and Sarah and Nic of HIP Ag for hosting this event that raised
over $800 for HIP Ag education and farm programs with the support of over $1,000 in
instructor, team time and materials donations.
