October 22 was an historic day at Capitol Technology University, with students joining alumni, trustees, benefactors and other members of the university community for a special event commemorating the school's past and looking ahead to the future. Earlier the same day, scholarship recipients attended the annual Scholarship Appreciation Breakfast, where they had the chance to meet with the donors whose generous support has facilitated their academic achievements.

Also in this month's Connector, find out how alumnus Marc Fruchtbaum helped transform a spare room in the MacGowan Center into the Cyber Battle Lab. Last but not least, meet the co-ordinator of this year's FIRST Robotics Kickoff, Capitol sophomore Indya Dodson!

KasperskyDodson to Co-ordinate FIRST Kickoff Event

Indya Dodson, a sophomore double-majoring in software engineering and web development, has an encouraging message for young people with an interest in technology: "never say you can't do it, because you can!"

Dodson sets an example with her own dedication and drive: in addition to mentoring two robotics teams -- one at her former high school and the other at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center -- she is taking on a new role this year as co-ordinator for the 2015 FIRST Robotics Kickoff event, to be held on January 3 on the Capitol campus. "It's a lot of work," she says of her multiple activities. "But at the end of the day it's always worth it because I'm able to give someone else the same incredible opportunity I was fortunate enough to receive."
