We are living in ATHENS this week! At least from 9-noon every day for VBS, we live in Athens, following St. Paul on his "Dangerous Journey"... We have 76 kids and it takes about half that number of adults and teens to keep them straight! As usual, it is wonderful chaos around the campus. Give thanks to the whole team this coming weekend, but special thanks for Patti Somers who is doing a fabulous job! We have an almost complete new team and everyone is doing very well.
Sunday we have a very special offering at 1:30. Ben Franklin will be "in concert" at ODEC, telling us about his life and offering some wisdom and humor. One of Colonial Williamsburg's pros (see details below) is sponsored by our Historic Traditions group. It should be of great interest and fun. Lemonade and snacks follow. Come and join us!
Ashley will be preaching at 8:00 and 10:30 in the Church, and I have the Gathering and 5:00. It is also Paws, Prayers, and Praise week so bring your animals to the 5:00 service. We have some great Scripture readings for this week so don't miss out.
Next Tuesday (July 16), Mother Ashley is running the bus to Water Country USA again for EYC and friends. Register ahead so we know there are enough seats for everyone. We love to have you and your friends with us, so let's be sure we fill the bus!
Bell Ringer is going to be a week later (than what I promised). Look for it not this week, but next. It will cover the remainder of July and all of August.
On Sunday ODEC serves a mid-day meal to folks in need in Norfolk, sponsored by our Outreach Ministry. Preparation help is needed on Saturday at 9:00am for lunch assembly (no cooking this month). If you would like to help serve the meal, meet in the kitchen Sunday after the 10:30am services.
