Dear Parish Pro-Life Coordinator,

Please welcome your new Parish Liaison and meet him at the August 10 Parish Pro-Life Coordinator Meeting!

Before I get into what's ahead this month, it is with great pleasure that I announce our new Parish Liaison, Hector Carrasco. Hector replaces our beloved David Carr who stepped down this spring.

Hector is not new to the Catholic Pro-Life Community, first joining us as a  sidewalk counselor. Please make sure to meet and welcome Hector at our next Parish Pro-Life Coordinators meeting on Aug. 10 at Blessed Sacrament in Dallas.

Before the summer gets into full swing, (baseball pun intended!), please mark your calendars for this year's Fall 40 Days for Life - Dallas prayer campaign from Sept. 25 through Nov. 3.   This year we return  to the tragically busy  Southwestern abortion facility at Greenville and Royal where we will pray  and witness  24/7 for all 40 days, so we need an army of prayer warriors!

Please consider now which day(s) you would like to adopt and start encouraging your parish family to join you in prayer, so that we can save as many babies during this vigil as possible.  This year's national landscape makes it even more important that we're visible in prayer. Come learn more about the latest pro-life news and how we can be effective champions for life at our Kickoff Rally on September 24 at 7 p.m. at Gaston Oaks Christian Center. More details at prolifedallas.org/40days .

The good news is that you don't have to wait until the fall to pray together for life!
Summer Mass_ Adoration and Rosary for Life_
Amidst our summer plans, it is important that we pause to pray and stand witness for LIFE! So be sure to join us on  July 13 for the 8 a.m. Mass for Life at  St. Elizabeth of Hungary, followed by a bilingual rosary procession by bus to the nearby  Planned Parenthood abortion facility

OPPORTUNITIES FOR WOMEN AND MEN TO HEAL

SAINT BENEDICT
Also in July, we will mark the Memorial of St. Benedict. Benedict was born into a distinguished family in central Italy, studied at Rome, and early in life was drawn to monasticism. At first he became a hermit, leaving a depressing world with pagan armies on the march, the Church torn by schism, people suffering from war, and morality at a low ebb.

Monks began to follow Benedict as their leader (some not finding his strictness to their taste), which gave rise to St. Benedict's vision for life in community.  The Rule that gradually developed prescribed a life of liturgical prayer, study, manual labor, and living together under a common abbot. Benedictine asceticism is known for its moderation, and Benedictine charity has always shown concern for the people in the surrounding countryside. In the course of the Middle Ages, all monasticism in the West was gradually brought under the Rule of St. Benedict.

Today the Benedictine family is represented by two branches: the Benedictine Federation encompassing the men and women of the Order of St. Benedict, and the Cistercians, men and women of the Order of Cistercians of the Strict Observance.

Today, St. Benedict's focus on the Lord, self-sacrifice and commitment to community is an example worth noting in a culture that tends to lack the same. Thank you for your focus, unity and sacrifice in advancing a pro-life culture.

God Bless,

Susan Platt
