July 9, 2019

Dear friends,

Thank you to all those who joined me at the New Carrollton Branch of the Prince George's County Memorial Library System on June 27 for the first in my event series Resource Workshops: Bringing Services to You on the topic of the Department of the Environment's Rain Check Rebate Program.

The Rain Check Rebate is an innovative program started by the Prince George's County Department of the Environment to provide reimbursement to homeowners, businesses, and nonprofit entities for installing approved stormwater management practices. It is funded through the Clean Water Act fees property owners pay. Prince George's County partners with the Chesapeake Bay Trust to manage the program.

All property owners can play a role in stormwater management across Prince George's County. Implementing the eligible practices below may reduce stormwater from immediately running off your property--or into your basement! By capturing rain water or allowing it to slowly filtrate into the ground you can improve water quality and help support a healthy Chesapeake Bay.

Please note, you can begin this process even if you aren't sure what you want to do! Fill out as much of the application below a s you can and someone from the Chesapeake Bay Trust will reach out to you and schedule a visit to discuss ideas.

Rebates: U p to $4,000 for residential property owners; up to $20,000 for institutional properties, commercial properties, multi-family dwellings, nonprofit organizations, homeowners associations, condominium associations, and civic associations.

Eligible Practices: Rain Barrel, Cistern, Urban Tree Canopy, Rain Garden, Pavement Removal, Permeable Pavement, Green Room

How to Apply:  Begin the process by filling out an application online. Even if you are unsure which practice(s) you would like to implement, fill out as much as you can and someone from the Chesapeake Bay Trust will reach out to you and schedule a visit to discuss ideas.

Please note: the City of Bowie has their own Clean Water Act program and so residents of the City of Bowie are not eligible to participate in Rain Check Rebate.

Need Help Finding a Landscape Professional?  Prince George's County Rain Check Rebate Contractor Training Completion List  contains the names of those individuals and companies that have attended and completed a county-sponsored training course.
