Principal regional planner Kyle Pimental continues to focus on the 2017 Project of Special Merit Setting Sail Project, which involves multiple elements for different inland coastal communities in the Strafford region.

The City of Dover has partnered with SRPC to work on the climate adaptation chapter of its master plan. The city will hold workshops on Oct. 19 and 21 to get public input on relevant topics such as impacts on energy, food, infrastructure, health and safety, natural resources, and water availability and quality.  View the flyer announcing the workshops here.

Kyle is also teaming up with UNH Cooperative Extension and NH Sea Grant to hold a similar event in Madbury on Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Madbury town hall. This workshop will focus on preparing for extreme weather. Attendees will be asked to share their concerns about three weather-related challenges-emergency preparedness, extreme precipitation/flooding, and drought/water supply-and join in brainstorming actions to address them. Ice cream sundaes will be served, and pre-registration is requested. For more details, see the event flyer at   http://tinyurl.com/Madburyflyer .

Other efforts related to this project include work with the community of Rollinsford, which will receive assistance with researching potential funding sources for culvert upgrades; Durham which is relying on SRPC technical assistance as it considers incorporating sea level rise into their existing local floodplain regulations; and Newmarket, which will update its stormwater regulations with assistance from SRPC.

The Partnering for Performance New Hampshire (PFPNH) project is nearing completion, with a closeout date of Sept. 30. This two-year project, originally known as SHRP2, was a very successful effort by Strafford MPO and a dedicated cluster of stakeholders and workgroup members from throughout the state. Project outcomes include best practices for collaboration among state and regional entities, the narrowing down of 652 performance measures to seven, three comprehensive reports, and a website to feature all of this information. Following the project's close, S trafford MPO will continue to work with the other MPOs in the state to streamline common processes and use each others unique skill-sets for the benefit of all.

Over the next week, project managers Rachel Dewey and Nancy O'Connor will be working to close out the project and launch the Partnering for Performance website. Stay tuned for an announcement of the website release. In the meantime, feel free  to contact Nancy ( noconnor@strafford.org ) or Rachel ( rdewey@strafford.org) with any questions.
