About The Center for Autism Research (CAR)

A collaboration between
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
and
The University of Pennsylvania
, CAR's multidisciplinary
research team is working every day to uncover the underlying causes of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in order to develop precision treatments that can dramatically improve the lives of individuals with ASD and related conditions throughout their lives. In addition to our research, it is CAR's mission to support families and train professionals through community outreach and evidence-based education and training in the latest developments in autism screening, diagnosis and treatment, and provide training for the next generation of master clinicians and researchers in the field.

nfants, children, teens and parents with

without ASD can participate in research to help us understand the causes of ASD and develop effective therapies.
Infant Brain Imaging Study
Infants between the ages of 3 to 6 months with an older full sibling who is diagnosed with ASD OR is typically developing are eligible to enroll.
Early Intervention Study
Children younger than age 5 receiving services from Elwyn are eligible to enroll.
Research on Autism and Developmental Disorders
Children ages 2-5 with OR without ASD may enroll. Children who have an older brother or sister with ASD may enroll at 12 months old

Studying Communication and Social Patterns in Adults
Typically developing adults aged 20-55 are invited to participate in a study on social understanding and social communication in adults with ASD.
Studying School Transitions for Children and Teens with ASD
Families and providers who work with children and teens with ASD transitioning to Kindergarten and to high school are invited to enroll in a study to better understand these transitions and how to support them.
