Worship on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
July 15, 2018
1650 W. Foster Ave., Chicago IL

 Greetings!

Eighth Sunday After Pentecost
"When Amos told what he saw when God held up the plumb line of justice next to Israel—that the poor were being trampled—he was a threat to the power of priests and king. John the Baptist also spoke truth to power, and Herod had him beheaded. In Herod’s fear that Jesus is John returned from the dead, we may hear hope for the oppressed: that all the prophets killed through the ages are alive in Jesus. We are called to witness to justice in company with them."

See you Sunday!
Sharing Faith at Home
Morning Prayer: O God, sustain us in the complexity of our humanity as you sustained David-- playing the harp of youth, throwing stones at giant problems, loving our friends beyond wisdom, dancing worship, mourning children, breaking our hearts in psalms, and
longing for warmth in our old bones. Amen.
Evening Prayer: Steadfast God, your prophets set the plumb line of your righteousness and truth in the midst of your people. Grant us the courage to judge ourselves against it. Straighten all that is crooked or warped within us until our hearts and souls stretch upright, blameless and holy, to meet the glory of Christ. Amen.
Prayer with Children: Dear God, thank you for sending messengers to deliver your word of love and, sometimes, warning! Help us to know that those messengers, called prophets, are always known by their delivering your loving message. Thank you, Jesus! Amen.
In our prayers: Paul, Ina, Patrick, Eric, Nikki, Jennifer, Linda, Sharon, Gloria, Monroe, John and Sharon, Beck, Bob, Don, Howard, Richard, Jody, Sharon, Barbara, Dick, Ashley, Debbie, Dan, Belita, Esther, Bob, Tom, Velda. We also pray for our bishops, Elizabeth and Wayne.

Ebenezer in Mission
Ebenezer Refugee Support
Ebenezer’s support group works with newly arrived refugees in the Rogers Park and Edgewater area. Sponsoring agencies offer a minimum of initial help when families first arrive. Ebenezer’s group works to fill the gap until families are self-supporting. To see a list of items needed and sign up to donate them, click here. Check back periodically. The list is updated as families’ needs change. Cash donations can be made out to Ebenezer Lutheran Church with the notation of Refugee Fund on the memo line. Questions can be directed to  Jackie Wood or text at 773-484-3923. or call Norm Dynneson at 773-218-8729

Facilities Feedback
Ebenezer's facilities are busier than ever, which is both a gift and a challenge! To help us understand areas where cleaning and repair could be improved, you are invited to use this form to provide feedback to Jesse, our sexton. This is a more reliable method than verbal reports to staff or volunteers on Sundays, when our focus in on worship. Please let us know how we can continue to make Ebenezer a place of hospitality for all! The link is also available at any time at the Ebenezer Facilities webpage.
