God is Back!
Luke 7:11-17 ( The Message)
Jeri-Lynne Bouters preaching

Jesus has a visceral reaction to a woman in distress in our scripture lesson for this Sunday. “His heart broke.”
vv. 12-13 “As they approached the village gate, they met a funeral procession — a woman's only son was being carried out for burial. And the mother was a widow. When Jesus saw her, his heart broke.”

Jesus is moved to pity in his inward parts. It's what happens when one has an "emotional reaction" to the misery of another person. Jesus was taken by or moved with pity. But Jesus doesn’t just emotionally react; He does something about it. When Jesus sees suffering, he takes it into himself. This, in life, is what Paul said Jesus accomplished in his death.
It is reassuring to know that while Jesus isn’t here physically, by the power of the Holy Spirit, Jesus still reaches out to comfort us. Learn more about the compassion of Jesus this Sunday!

See you Sunday!
