April 2018
Today's stories represent our organizational values of Impact, Choice, Heart and Partnership. Do you have a values story to share? Let us know.
Impact - building futures together

A look back in history: In 1976, construction began for Opportunity Workshop's large new facility in Minnetonka. Today known as Opportunity Partners - Koch Campus, the 1977 open house drew 1,000 guests, including then U.S. Senator Hubert H. Humphrey and his wife, Muriel, who were long-time champions for disability rights.
Partnership - redefining ability

The 2018 Opportunity Partners Gala is Saturday! We cannot wait to share this inspiring evening with you all. If you are attending, an email containing all information will come out Thursday. Otherwise, if you have questions, please contact us.

Saturday, April 28
Opportunity Partners - Koch Campus

Choice - job satisfaction, thanks to your support
Deonte works at Culver's
Linda works at Target Field
Rick works at Jerry's

For many of the individuals supported by Opportunity Partners, obtaining a competitive, integrated job is something they potentially spend months working toward. Fortunately, our Job Development team is with them every step of the way - from filling out job applications to helping with interview preparation. So far this year, your support has helped Opportunity Partners place 18 people in competitive jobs!
Heart - recognizing Autism Awareness Month

April is Autism Awareness Month and we have been celebrating success stories all month long. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the prevalence of autism has risen to 1 in 68 births in the United States. Head to the blog to learn more and read some of the success stories of people served by Opportunity Partners' autism programs.
Impact - working to Stop the Cut

Thank you to families, staff and other stakeholders for continuing to contact your legislators to Stop the Cut to Home and Community-Based Services like Opportunity Partners. President & CEO Armando Camacho recently wrote a column for the Sun newspapers that discusses how a 7 percent cut will affect organizations and why we must work together to stop it. Many of you have also reached out to write letters to the editor of local newspapers. Check out one letter that was recently published by an OP staff person.

We are hearing that all of the contacts to legislators are having an impact! Thank you for your advocacy! Visit ARRM's website to learn the latest updates about this issue.

It's not too late to get involved and help Stop the Cut! Email us to learn how you can take action.
