In Memory of IRCC resident and Patriot,
MG Homer “Huck” Long
This article was written on September 11 th , Patriot Day, as we have come to call it, because Huck was a great patriot. Huck would never want IRCC to forget this horrific event, ever. In American history, September 11, 2001 lives next to Pearl Harbor, December 7, 1941.

Private Long joined the US Army to fight in WWII and stayed on to continue to fight for the USA the remainder of his days. He also fought in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and he “fought” the Cold War. He was a life-long student of US and world events and then shared his knowledge with everyone he could. As a patriot, he tried to teach us about the foes of the USA.

Featured IRCC Artist in Residence, Susan “Starbird” Stout
Susan “Starbird” Stout might be considered a late bloomer as an Artist, but certainly an accomplished one. “I picked up a paintbrush in 2001 after accepting an early retirement package from IBM.” Susan said, “I had the fortune of discovering an outstanding artist and instructor at The Spruill Center in Atlanta. She taught art history as well as acrylic painting. We traveled to NYC where we did a wide sweeping tour of the city’s museums and art shows utilizing the local transportation. It was wonderful!” She also stated she doesn’t sell her paintings. She hangs them on her walls or gives them to people. She smiled and added, “When someone’s ill, I give them a painting of flowers and hopefully it enlightens their day AND they don’t have to water them!” Her husband, Bruce, gives her paintings their titles, the one above named
" Good Morning Sunshine".
