A book of hope for “We the People”

This timely, courageous, and practical work is about us and what we can do in everyday settings like families, neighborhoods, congregations, classrooms and workplaces to resist divide-and-conquer politics. In compelling and inspiring prose Palmer explores five “habits of the heart” that can help us restore democracy’s foundations as we nurture ourselves and each other.

Palmer’s Discussion Guide is designed to encourage a thoughtful exploration of three areas of inquiry suggested by the book:

  • What is most important to me as an American citizen? What are my deepest hopes for my country?
  • What is the role of “We the People” at this moment in American history? How can we join with others to create more open, respectful and life-giving conversations in a quest for the common good?
  • What are you and I now called to do?

We are limiting the number of participants to 20. To reserve your space, please email your intention to attend by sending your name and the names of anyone joining you to: [email protected]

HELP US DECORATE THE CHURCH FOR CHRISTMAS!

Please join us this Tuesday, December 1, at 10:00 a.m. to help decorate both the inside and the outside of our church This year, we will be adding additional lights and decorations to the outside of our church so that our corner is a beautiful Light in the darkness of these challenging days.  We'll be following COVID guidelines for social distancing and wearing masks. Supplies will be laid out to facilitate social distancing.

For more information, or to volunteer to help, please email Dawn Kucera ([email protected])
ADVENT DEVOTIONAL SMALL GROUP DISCUSSION

Our Advent devotional guide this year is "Low: An Honest Advent Devotional" by John Pavlovitz, available from Amazon ($5.99) and on Kindle. Devotional readings for each day of Advent will guide our thoughts during this holy season. Our discussion group, led by Karla Miller and Mark Acker, will meet each Thursday in Advent at 1:00 p.m. (beginning December 3 through December 17 on Zoom).  To sign up for the small Zoom group, please email Mark Acker ([email protected]).
SANCTUARY IS OPEN FOR PRAYER AND MEDITATION
Our sanctuary will now be open for prayer and meditation on Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For safety in this enclosed space, only two persons or two family groups (like a couple) can sign up for each 30 minute time slot. Sanitizing will be done following each 30 minute time.

You can click here to sign up, or you can email Sheryl Tellier ([email protected]) to reserve a time. We are asking that everyone wear a mask. Please join us for this time of Personal Pilgrimage.
