Fracking Compendium 5.0 Released and Lauded by Rolling Stone!
The 5th edition of the Compendium of Scientific, Medical, and Media Findings Demonstrating Risks and Harms of Fracking was released by PSR and NY Concerned Health Professionals. The report summarizes more than 1,300 studies published on the effects of drilling (about a quarter published in 2017 alone) and tracks and analyzes the increasing dangers to health, including respiratory disease, cancer risk, and low birth weight and preterm birth, both of which are leading causes of infant death. Along side the report, the Rolling Stone magazine released a major article covering its release and called it the "most authoritative study of its kind". Support PSR as we work to bring this important compilation of research to policy makers and into the public's eyes.

1) Risks and Harms of Fracking: A Public Discussion

The unconventional gas development (UGD) industry is too dirty and too dangerous! We can and must make a just transition away from fossil fuels and into a clean, renewable energy future! Join us as we discuss the 2018 edition of the Compendium of Scientific, Medical, and Media Findings Demonstrating Risks and Harms of Fracking which updates the rapidly expanding evidence indicating harm to health from fracking and methane infrastructure. 2) The We Choose a Better Path, Governor Wolf Rally!

Pipelines have allowed the impacts of fracking to metastasize from the shale fields to communities across the state that are being damaged by processing plants, cracker plants, waste treatment facilities, water withdrawal operations, injection wells, natural gas power plants, export facilities, and the pipelines themselves. Meeting to Promote Electric Vehicle Use in Philadelphia!
On February 21, Dr. Walter Tsou joined David Masur from PennEnvironment, Thomas Bonner from PECO, State Rep. Chris Rabb, Justin Thompson from City Councilman Blondell Reynolds-Brown’s Office in a press event to promote electric vehicles in Philadelphia. Click here to read more about this event.

PSR Philadelphia will be joining Drexel, Jefferson, UPenn and Temple to promote lectures and education around climate change and health through the mini-CUSP program out of the Franklin Institute!

2) BioPhilly 4: Birds, Bees, and Us: Circadian Health in Urban Environments

BioPhilly is hosting an event to present current research, including the 2017 Nobel Prize-winning research into the Circadian Clock Gene , which has determined that increased nighttime illumination has disruptive consequences for all forms of life: plants, animals, pollinators and humans alike. Join PSR and a diverse panel of experts to discuss our shared challenges as Philadelphians!
