Sermon: Rev. Bob Schall -
SHIPWRECKED: "When We Worry"

Scripture: Luke 10:38-42

Jesus assures us repeatedly in scripture not to worry. Jesus doesn't rescue us by taking away our difficulties, but he does promise to care for our needs. How would life change for us if we took every opportunity to turn our worries over to Jesus, replacing our worry with wonder as we discover the ways Jesus cares for our needs?
Welcome Katherine Bomgaars - New Director of Student Ministries
Peace is pleased to welcome our new Director of Student Ministries, Katherine Bomgaars. She is a graduate of Wartburg College with degrees in both Religion and Spanish. After a nationwide search, Katherine emerged as our leading candidate. In the final stages of the interview process she met with our middle school and high school youth, connected well with them, and received their blessing.

She will be quickly forming relationships with the youth and key volunteers during the summer mission trips (the High Schoolers leave for New Orleans tomorrow). Katherine looks forward to creating a safe space for the youth to have opportunities to explore their faith and form meaningful relationships.

Special thanks to our SPRC/Search Committee. Please give Katherine a warm Peace welcome!
Pastor Jim's Commissioning Ceremony - June 9
We are delighted to announce Rev. Jim Berlau will be commissioned as a provisional Elder in the United Methodist Church during this year's Florida Annual Conference. The ceremony will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 9 th in the Branscomb Auditorium of Florida Southern College (111 Lake Hollingsworth Drive, Lakeland Florida 33801).

Commissioning is powerful moment in the life of those who have been called to ministry within the United Methodist Church. During the service they are prayed over, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and authorized by the church for their life and work as a minister. After years of discernment with the assistance of one's local congregation, district, and Annual Conference Board of Ordained Ministry; after receiving a master's degree; and after a period of supervised service in ministry, candidates kneel before their bishop for this special ceremony.

The final step in the process toward full ordination will come in two years as he moves from provisional to full Elder. We hope you can make plans to support Pastor Jim by attending this service in Lakeland on June 9 th !

Once each month this summer we will gather in the sanctuary for a combination of prayer and reflection. Prayers will be lifted for our community, church, country and future endeavors. Our goal is to pray without ceasing this summer--with thankful hearts. Make plans to attend our first Summer Nights of Prayer event on Thursday, June 21st from 6:30 - 7:15 p.m.
