Dear Friends,
A beautiful, sunny and warm day like yesterday, makes today's cold and grey feel pretty lousy, doesn't it? And, yet, I am reminded that we need the rain just as much as we need the sun. This is the Lenten journey: we walk the rainy, grey path on which we examine ourselves, acknowledge our propensity for sin and recognize our complete dependence upon God's love and grace, so that we can fully celebrate the warmth and sun of the resurrection and new life. Richard Rohr talks about Lent as a time spent in the tomb where we let those things die, so that new life can bloom. I don't know about you, but I would rather be outside the tomb, than inside the tomb. And, yet, just as the rain is needed for new life so is the tomb. What might need to die in your life, so that new life can bloom? May we continue the Lenten journey with the full and certain hope of what awaits us; warmth, sun and the resurrection!

 Longtime, faithful member Bob Savely passed away on Tuesday, March 5th, Please hold his wife Jeanne and daughter Marsha in your prayers. A service will be held at Chestnut Square, this Sat., March 23rd, at 3 pm. Another service is scheduled for Saturday, June 1st, 11 am. at fpcw.

"Poor People's Campaign"
Adult Study during Lent
Join Pastor Jeff on Sundays in Lent from 8:45-9:45 am in the Upper Room as we engage in Bible studies inspired by the new "Poor People's Campaign." Dovetailing with our 2019 Lenten theme at

, the "Poor People's Campaign" is a faith-based effort to tackle poverty, and is led by Rev. William Barber II and Rev. Liz Theoharis. We will meet for 3 sessions (24 and April 7 and 14) and focus on various Old Testament and New Testament texts.

Cradles to Crayons
Is a clothing drive for children, sizes 0-20. This organization provides children (0-12 yrs old) who live in homeless or low-income situations, with the essential items they need to thrive - at school, at home and at play. On Saturday, April 13th members will deliver the donated clothing and help sort and package the items for distribution. Parents and children ages 5 and older are invited to volunteer. Questions? Hunger for Change
Join us for this six-week Lenten study on Thursday nights (6:30 m in the WMFC), through
April 11.
Using curriculum from JustFaith Ministries, this learning opportunity will explore the realities of food insecurity in the United States and around the world, through the lens of our Christian call to "feed the hungry" (Mt. 25). This study also directly ties into our Lenten theme at

, "No Needy Among You: Loving the Poor in Jesus' Name." Partnering with our friends at St. Francis Xavier, we will learn more about local and global hunger, and then be inspired to take concrete actions to end hunger. If you would like more information or would like to register to join this class, please contact Rev. Jeff Lehn.

Stock the Shelves Truck
The missing link that unites an abundance of North Shore
resources with under-resourced refugee families. Food stamps don't buy necessary, every day items such as soap, diapers, laundry detergent or toilet paper. The STS truck delivers these items on the 4th Wednesday of the month to the Indo-American Center where over 125 refugee families select the items they need to continue to build sustainable lives.
