Your calls and emails are being heard!

HIP funding has been restored through the end of June for SNAP recipients in Mass. The Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) provides a dollar-for-dollar match up to $40-$80 per month for SNAP money spent on fruits and vegetables purchased at participating farmers markets, farm stands, mobile markets, and community supported agriculture (CSA) programs statewide.

Focus has shifted now to the 2018-2019 budget and making sure that the program has enough funding to last all year. The committee to reconcile the House and Senate budgets is meeting now and representatives need to hear from you! Let them know that you support making healthy food available to all and supporting local farmers.  There are only weeks left before Governor Baker signs the final budget.

With so many moving pieces to this multi-national deal, it's sometimes hard to remember that these are issues directly impacting farmers in our region.
