Recommended Halloween Guidelines
- Masks aren't just for trick-or-treaters this year! Everyone-including candy givers-should wear a face covering (multi-layered, covering the mouth and nose, without gaps around the face).
- Leave a light on or hang a Halloweek sign in your window to let others know your house is giving out candy safely.
- Handing out candy? Please socially distance and have hand sanitizer, too.
- Trick or treating? Stay on the move! Less congregating means more houses and more candy.
- Ensure there's all treats and no tricks. Please don't reach into candy bowls while trick or treating, and eat candy only at home after washing your hands.
- No Haunted Houses. They are truly spooky and dangerous this year.
- Keep your candy crew small. Trick-or-treating groups should be 6 people or less.
- No house parties large or small this year.
Below are some printable signs for you to notify
41st Ward Goblins and Ghouls if you are partaking in Halloween Trick-Or-Treating this year.
The flu vaccine has saved millions of lives. It is safe, effective, and available at no cost citywide at many doctor's offices, pharmacies, community health centers, and flu clinics.
CDPH Commissioner Allison Arwady, M.D."What will happen this fall and winter is uncertain, but it is likely that there will be both COVID-19 and seasonal flu activity. Getting the seasonal flu vaccination before the end of October is the best way to protect yourself, your loved ones, your community and the global community from the flu."
Please visit www.chicago.gov/flu for more information and to locate any of the city-wide community flu clinics to get your flu shot at no cost.
COVID-19 Update
Recently, areas of the City of Chicago have seen a spike in the number of positive Covid-19 cases. This includes zip codes in the 41st ward. We'd like to remind everyone to please respect and adhere to the safety guidelines set forth by our state and city health experts. For the most up to date information on Covid-19 including positivity rates in your zip code, please visit https://www.chicago.gov/city/en/sites/covid-19/home.html
Currently, crews are in the 41st ward upgrading our entire lighting system. This includes an upgrade from the outdated high pressure sodium fixtures to better quality, more reliable LED light fixtures. Please note, street lights will be on during the day while the upgrade process is ongoing. Fixtures installed will be the same throughout the city to maintain uniform brightness.
We are now offering free reusable cloth face masks. Masks can be picked up Monday through Friday 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at our ward office located at 7442 N. Harlem Avenue. Please enter the parking lot in front of our ward office. A representative from our office will be outside to provide your mask. Masks will be provided while supplies last.
We have just received confirmation from the Department of Streets and Sanitation that we can start offering Garage / Yard Sale Permits. In an abundance of caution, we ask that you please email us your permit application (found *Here* ) and proof of address to ward41@cityofchicago.org. We will then email your permit once it is processed. You are also welcome to fax your information to (773) 631-2479. Below are the guidelines provided by Chicago Department of Public Health and the Department of Streets and Sanitation for Garage / Yard Sales.
