Carroll junior organizes fashion show for girls with scoliosis
Embracing the Curve, a fashion show featuring young models who are embracing their scoliosis, is returning for its second year. The event, hosted by Curvy Girls Scoliosis Foundation and sponsored by Boston Orthotics & Prosthetics, Scoliosis Specialty Center, DePuy Synthes, and Scoliosis Rehab, Inc., will be held Saturday, Apr. 28, at 2:00 p.m., in the Lord & Taylor Court at King of Prussia Mall.

This event is the brainchild of 16-year-old Bridget Llull ‘19, who has led the Philadelphia chapter of Curvy Girls since 2014 after discovering the organization and finding comfort in the community of girls in the area, and around the world, who were struggling with their scoliosis and self-esteem.
When she was eight years old, Bridget was diagnosed with scoliosis and by the time she was 12, her condition worsened enough for her to need the support of a back brace. The first time Llull put the brace on she became increasingly self-conscious, she recalls. Embracing the Curve seeks to increase confidence in girls with scoliosis and increase awareness of the spine condition in the community.

“I am excited to be able to host this event for the second year in a row,” Bridget said. “My hope is that this year’s show will reach even more people than last year and be a fun and inspiring day for girls with scoliosis.”

“What a terrifically talented and giving young woman Bridget is for taking the lead in this very special endeavor,” said Anchen Schulz, Ph.D., principal of Archbishop Carroll. “I am so proud of her for helping other girls feel good about themselves while embracing the curve.”

This year’s show will feature members of the Philadelphia Curvy Girls chapter, as well as chapters as far away as Long Island, modeling brace-friendly fashions supplied by King of Prussia Mall retailers.

Mountain MacGillivray '91 named LaSalle Women's Basketball coach

Mountain MacGillivray ’91, a Philadelphia native and former Archbishop John Carroll High School girl's basketball coach, who helped lead Quinnipiac College to seven straight 20-win seasons and a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2017, has been appointed the ninth head coach in La Salle University women’s basketball history.
MacGillivray has 13 years of experience coaching at the high school and AAU levels, helping turn the Lady Patriots into one of the most successful prep programs in the country.

Barry Kirsch, longtime head Girls’ Basketball coach at Carroll said, “Mountain was a loyal 13-year assistant coach at Archbishop Carroll High School. He was always eager to learn and willing to do whatever it took to make our players successful. He brought intensity and innovation to practice each day and was constantly inspiring the girls to be the best they could be. Mountain and his wife, Grace, along with their seven children, will bring a strong sense of family to La Salle University.

"The players on the team will be treated as part of his family and will know that he wants them to be successful on the court, in the classroom and in life after basketball. This is a great day for the La Salle community and for Mountain and his family. I am very proud to have worked with him and wish him much success. His many years of working as an assistant have finally paid off and now he can show everyone how good a coach he is.”
Parents of the Class of 2020,

All juniors in the State of Pennsylvania are mandated to submit a physical along with immunizations.
This is NOT interchangeable with the PIAA sports form required for sports.

All seniors are required to get an additional vaccine, the meningococcal conjugate vaccine. This vaccine may be given at the same time of the Junior Physical. This vaccine is required to attend school next year (senior year).

Please submit a record of this vaccine as soon as your child receives the MCV. The deadline is the first day of school.
