Where will the Chamber go? Here's an Update
|
Thank you to all board members, Chamber members and other community members who joined the discussion on Tuesday, April 3 about the future of the Chamber's location.
Larry Wahl, board member, presented many options including a temporary opportunity. He has been in discussion with the The Verona Grange hall directly next to the old Chamber building located at 54 Main Street. We will be moving in there within the next few weeks. Thank you Larry Wahl and Virginia Dow for handling the negotiations and the generosity of the Verona Grange for sharing their space with us. We will let announce when moving day is, and we'll need all the help we can get.
So, what happens next? The board and other interested Chamber members will form a committee in the near future dedicating efforts to a long term solution. Please let us know if you are interested in serving on this committee or have any input regarding this topic.

Private Home Care, Inc. Shares Poem from Client in Honor of National Poetry Month
|
The Stumps
Written by Dr. John Meyer II
When I have finished my work,
Let me fall with dignity
Or if I must fall sooner, with defiance
But let me rest.
Let my fibers go to build the strength of the world I share and make strong supports for those I generated
Let my leaves bring up crocuses by mingling with the soil to them food
Let my stump molder quietly, offering for what rest for those who wander this way, food for small creatures, stuff for teaming life
And then in the fullness of time,
Let my dust lend moody elegance to the landscape and let my juices find their way through the interstices of Earth, to enter into the fabric of new life
My immortality will not reside in my remembered identity, but in the flow of life to life
Strength growing
In other mortalities
And generations of unborn ideas

Taxpayers who have questions about the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act have several resources that will help answer questions.
Business owners: Ensure employees check their withholding
Business owners should remind employees to check their withholding and do a “paycheck checkup” following changes from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Using the
Withholding Calculator
is the best way for employees to check that they aren’t having too much or too little tax withheld from their paychecks.
Small business owners often have a running list of things to do. These include deadlines, sales calls, employee issues, banking, advertising – and taxes. The IRS can help with the last one.
Small business owners that offer goods and services online may be part of the sharing economy. Activities such as ride sharing, freelancing, renting a spare bedroom and crowd funding are usually taxable. The IRS has a Sharing Economy Tax Center to help these taxpayers find the information they need to meet their tax obligations.

The Death of Stalin
April 6-8, 2018
comedy
107 minutes
R
The one-liners fly as fast as political fortunes fall in this uproarious, wickedly irreverent satire from Armando Iannucci (Veep, In the Loop). Moscow, 1953: when tyrannical dictator Joseph Stalin drops dead, his parasitic cronies square off in a frantic power struggle to be the next Soviet leader. Among the contenders are the dweeby Georgy Malenkov (Jeffrey Tambor), the wily Nikita Khrushchev (Steve Buscemi), and the sadistic secret police chief Lavrentiy Beria (Simon Russell Beale). But as they bumble, brawl, and backstab their way to the top, just who is running the government? Combining palace intrigue with rapid-fire farce, this audacious comedy is a bitingly funny takedown of bureaucratic dysfunction performed to the hilt by a sparkling ensemble cast.
