Assalaamu Alaykum WaRahmatullahi WaBarakatahu,
Imagine waking up one morning and not knowing this was the last day you would sleep in your bed, eat on your kitchen table, wear your favorite dress, and lock your door to secure your belongings. Now imagine having to leave home with only what you could grab in a frenzy or even worse, with only the clothes on your back.
This is the story of millions of people who are faced with the harsh reality of poverty be it from civil unrest, natural disasters, being internally displaced, or from lack of opportunity.
HHRD recognizes their struggle, their pain and anguish on not having basic necessities; this gave way to our
In Kind Gifts Program
which has been saving and enhancing lives of hundreds of thousands of people since 2008.

In-Kind Gifts are donated goods and services rather than monetary donations. HHRD regional offices conduct local In Kind Gift drives which allow community members to play an active role in humanitarian relief through either donating items or their time sorting and packing.
In-Kind Gifts worth of almost $14 million have been sent in 98 containers this year to Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kenya, Somalia, Somaliland, Tanzania, Nepal, Lebanon, and Jordan up until the end of June 2018.
|
|
Donated items are collection in warehouses across the USA, they are then sorted, packed, inventoried and loaded into 40 foot containers by volunteers, shipped to their destinations, cleared at ports, and transported to international warehouses.
|
|
HHRD teams then prepare the items for distribution and in some cases hand deliver items to areas where there is immediate need. Distributions may take place at local centers, mosques, schools, hospitals etc. Every effort is taken to ensure these goods are given in a dignified manner.
|
|
The total time from the container being shipped to the written report after distribution to beneficiaries takes 6 months. Last year, 175 containers worth $29.2 million helped 3,245,400 people in Pakistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Kenya, Somalia and Tanzania.

|
An estimated 22,000 children die each year due to poverty and lack of access to basic necessities that are essential for survival. How is this happening on our watch? In Kind Gifts and drives give those members of the global community who have the luxury of running water, security of four walls and a roof, and opportunities to earn a living the chance to help those who many have fallen to the misfortunate of losing everything. We strongly encourage you to visit an
In Kind warehouse
in your state to donate items and to help with a drive. Your time and energy are deeply appreciated both by HHRD as well as, those who need it most. For further information how you can help visit our
In Kind Gifts website
and donate to this worthwhile cause.
Wasalaam Walaykum WaRahamatullahi WaBarakatahu,
