Dear Senior Members:
Many of us are spending our free time (and most of us have a lot of it) figuring out ways to implement social distancing while maintaining meaningful interactions with others. Whether it is catching up over the phone with our extended family or video chatting with grandchildren, reaching out is a terrific way to stay connected. Dont let this time become 'tit for tat'. Figure out what you need emotionally and make it happen. If you know me, you know my mantra has always been to make the first move and ask someone to go out for a cup of coffee or lunch because if you wait for them to ask you it might not happen! Now a days, we are not going out for coffee, but don't wait for the phone to ring- you be the attentive friend. If you have someone from the center that you would like to reach out to but don't have their number we would be happy to ask them if it's OK to give their number out to you. Give us a ring.
We are all being inundated with a barrage of information from radio, twitter, TV, Facebook and more; how do we maintain a clear mind to ensure some balance in our day? How do we keep moving and stay healthy with all the limitations in place? This is what we should all be striving to figure out; what we need to do to maintain our health.
In the next week we will be offering programs to you via video chat and/or conference calling. We miss you and think this is a great way for us to be
Apart/Together.
Dawn will work on getting her book club together to talk as a group. (of course, if I know this group, there will be lots of discussion and probably not about the book!) She will also be coordinating a virtual group to offer mutual support during these difficult times. This group will be limited and if need be Dawn can have more than one group. JillAnn will be offering a virtual modified version of 'Now and Zen' class. If you have access to internet/computer/ tablet/ Ipad etc this is the group for you. JillAnn will also be putting together a 'trivia' call for those of you who enjoy JillAnn's trivia programs, as well as a 'Chat it Up' group for those who have access to a phone and not technology.
