Plant a Seed and Teach Someone to Read
Spring is here and we are excited to launch a new fundraising campaign to support the Literacy Outreach Program with seasonal agricultural workers.

Every year, Frontier College provides literacy and basic skills support for seasonal agricultural workers in Southwestern Ontario. Our instructors offer classes at farms, greenhouses, churches, and libraries to over 200 learners . These workers are essential to Canada's food and agricultural system, and we are proud to support them.

Thanks to the generosity of Harris Home Hardware  in London, Ontario, we are selling gardening packages that include flower and vegetable seeds, a garden starter guide featuring tips and resources for beginners, and recipes written by our seasonal agricultural worker learners! . With every purchase, you will help grow our Literacy Outreach Program!

Deadline for orders is May 24, 2018. All orders will ship in Canada in time for planting season.

Join us at our annual national forum on Thursday, May 17 as we examine the role literacy plays in improving Canadians' health. Despite Canada's universal healthcare, not all Canadians have the same opportunities to enjoy good health and have the ability to understand and navigate health care services. There are many interconnected factors affecting our health and well-being. Literacy is one of those factors.

Sponsored by Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life, the forum will be moderated by Dave Angus, VP, Chamber Relations at J ohnston Group and will feature the following panelists:

Stephen Faul
President & CEO, Frontier College
Medical Lead for Aboriginal Health Program (North Zone) Alberta Health Services
Health Columnist at the Globe and Mail
Leader, Manitoba Institute for Patient Safety

T he for um will be held at the Radisson Hotel Downtown Winnipeg  and webcast live to satellite conferences in cities across Canada:

" My experience at Frontier College has impacted my life in many ways and will continue to in the future. Being  there has taught me determination and perseverance and to keep striving and working hard to meet my goals. Their staff and support team were amazing and will never be forgotten because they have taught me life skills that I can carry out through my apprenticeship and all levels of trade school."
