Early evening of July 24-Late evening of July 26
April 23 , 2018
From the Desk of Ellen Knippel, Principal

Dear Parents,
I know I keep saying this but Happy Spring!! I know it will be here to stay - sometime!! The students have been great about wearing boots and snow pants this past week. Now we have the thawing and mud!! Hopefully sunny skies will prevail! I have already been getting questions about when the students may begin wearing uniform shorts! Officially it is  May 1, which is next week. Please use your parental discretion. We will be going outside every day - shorts or not! Reminder that we have a no shorts policy on Mass days.
This is the time of year where we begin to plan for next year. We have a fabulous group of volunteers here at St. Anthony. However, with graduation approaching, we will also be losing several leaders and vital volunteers, with roles that will need to be filled as soon as possible.  School Committee and Athletics are in need of a few more position volunteers. These programs (especially Athletics) cannot be run without parent volunteers. If you are willing to work on either of these committees, please call the office and we will put you in contact with the right people.
The other area of GREAT concern is our Hot Summer Slice Committee. HSS is the MAIN MAJOR FUNDRAISER that we do as a school (instead of endless pizza sales, candy sales etc.). The revenue brought to our school is between $75,000 and $85,000 each year. This is money spent SPECIFICALLY for your children for classroom supplies (not budgeted), field trip costs, in-house field trips and events, school-wide events, Science, Art, PE, and Music budgets, tuition assistance, and MANY other things. There is no way that I will be able to put this amount of money into my budget without raising tuition considerably. We are in need of volunteers for this committee! Our greatest need is in the areas of Finance, Silent Auction, and Live Auction. Our Chairperson, Andrea Wojcinski will be stepping down after this year. Therefore, a new chairperson will need to surface if we are going to be able to continue this event and keep our tuition down. It would be great if someone is willing to "shadow" Andrea this year to learn the ropes! The next HSS meeting will take place on Thursday, April 26th, at 6:30 pm in the Science Lab. If you are able to help, please come and join the committee! If you have questions about specifics of a position, come and find out more! WE NEED YOU!
The Hot Summer Slice Event will take place on Friday, September 14th. Mark your calendars now to attend!
Thank you one and all for everything you do for our school!
Blessings!
Ellen Knippel

Blessings to all,
Mrs. Knippel

Grade 1 and 5 enjoyed their field trip to the Retzner Nature Center.
