CHAMBER SHIRT FRIDAY!

Grow Your Business With the
Largest Distributed Community Magazines

Locally-owned-and-operated Family Life Publications' series of community magazines, Canton Family Life, Woodstock Family Life, and North Fulton Family Life are celebrating their 5 Year Anniversary by increasing their print count to over 30,000 per magazine title for each monthly issue, which is more than any other monthly circulated, direct-mailed community magazine! The direct-mailed portion of their distribution will be over 28,000 per magazine title for each monthly issue, with the remaining magazines placed in racks throughout each corresponding community. And the magazines are also available online, with over 4,800 direct-email digital subscribers.

Family Life Publications puts community first by consciously choosing to print on sustainable papers, made without harsh chemicals, to help protect our environment and fragile waterways. The talented Family Life staff create entertaining and educational publications with content that focuses on local arts, music, and community event coverage, all of which is accompanied by vivid graphics and memorable photography.

Also, service in the community is very important to the staff at Family Life. You'll find members of the Family Life team serving on the Cherokee Chamber Chairman's Council as well as several community boards including Main Street Woodstock, Canton Main Street Board of Directors, Boys and Girls Club of Cherokee, Healing Hands Youth Ranch, Cherokee County Volunteer Fire Department, and the Hickory Flat Volunteer Association in addition to taking part in many organizations and fundraisers to help create a happier, healthier community.

Want to know more about advertising in a magazine that is truly involved and invested in the communities it serves? Contact Janet Ponichtera at 770-213-7095 or [email protected].

Navigating the ADA/FMLA Minefield
How To Protect Your Business While Avoiding A Migraine Headache

Wednesday, August 15th

9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

LOCATION:
Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce
Terrace Level

Does it seem like every day brings a new ADA or FMLA issue to the door of your HR office? If so, you would be among the masses of employers who are dealing with employees who miss an entire day, come in late or leave early because of a medical condition from which they suffer or one that a close family member is experiencing.  Before, however, you start losing sleep because of the barrage of time-off requests and demands for various work accommodations, take solace in knowing that developing a specific plan on how to manage ADA and FMLA issues will help you address those issues in a more productive and less risky manner.

Please join us for this workshop as we discuss some of the most common ADA and FMLA scenarios that employers face and walk step-by-step through your response and also identify some common traps in dealing with employee medical issues.  We will, for instance, discuss:
  • How to respond when an employee starts missing work without an explanation
  • Assessing vague doctor's notes with no return-to-work date
  • How to decide when an employee's request for leave is too much
  • The importance of documenting the interactive process under the ADA
  • Using the necessary forms when approving an employee for leave under the FMLA

SPEAKER:
Brad Adler, Freeman Mathis & Gary, LLP

COST:
Members: $25; after 8/8: $30
Future Members: $45
