Boy Scout Troop 23 Needs Your Help!
Troop 23 has been an important part of First Pres since 1955 and currently has over 80 active scouts. If you are interested in becoming a liaison, and making a difference in these young lives, please contact Ron Hands at (630) 670-6710. The time commitment is small but the impact is huge.

We would like to see what art talent there is in our community. Our desire is to rotate art every two months. If you are an artist of any media: pen & ink, pastel, oil, acrylic, colored pencil, charcoal, alcohol ink, collage, photography, digital photography, etc., please email Margaret Bucholz with the type of art you do and a sample of your work. 31 Days in Proverbs Challenge
During the month of July, we are reading through the Book of Proverbs, one chapter a day. There are thirty-one chapters in Proverbs and thirty-one days in the month of July. You are encouraged to read the corresponding chapter each day.
The Book of Proverbs has one central theme, to seek after wisdom. These short proverbs deal with various aspects of the human experience and guide us toward the way of right living.

We are getting closer to the purchase of new Hymnals for First Pres, thanks to the generous donation in memory of Byron M. Powell, which covers a portion of the cost, and many of you who have already made donations.
You can still make a donation to help with the total cost of the hymnals and dedicate a hymnal in honor or memory of a loved one. Please complete the form return it to the church office, along with your donation, or go to Hymnals Online to make your dedication and donation.

Director of Middle School Ministry
First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton is seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Director of Middle School Ministry. This is a part-time (20 hours per week) position responsible for leading our Middle School Ministry for sixth through eighth grade.

Ideally one person per 2 hour shift, greeting members and helping with picture check-in, or if you are having tons of fun meeting all your church friends, you can take the whole 4 hour shift.

Guide Book & Directory Advertising Opportunity
We are updating our annual Guide Book & Directory for the church. This book has everything pertinent to our church: ministries, committees, activities, functions and events plus a complete directory of all members. It is provided and direct-mailed to each family at no cost to our church, and is subsidized by local businesses that advertise. Dress-a-Girl-Around-the Word
August 16 & 17, 2018.
Join us for a Dress-a-Girl-Around-the-World workshop on August 16th from 1pm to 9 pm and August 17th from 9am to 3pm in Stewart Hall. Please bring a sewing machine if you have one easy to transport. Friends and all skill levels are welcome! Contact Jeanne Kovanda at (630) 380-0635 if you have questions or need help transporting your machine.
Kirkin of the Tartans
Oct 28, 2018.
Plans are afoot for a fall Kirkin of the Tartans. There will be a "Procession of the Tartans" where parishioners march into the sanctuary with their tartans held high on a pole. If you are of Scottish heritage and have a tartan you will surely want to participate.
There's a tartan for those not of Scottish heritage too! All are invited to participate, but there are a limited number of slots and poles. We have some tartans on hand. Contact Emily Schmitz-Herndon at 630 544-9293 for more information.

School Preparations
We are asking our congregation to help provide essential backpacks and basic school supplies for local children in need. Your donations will help support the Zomi children, Peoples Resource Center and Catholic Charities. A list of supplies is available at the information desk. We have boxes for your donations available in the Rotunda. Please bring your contributions by AUGUST 12. Thank you for your generosity. Join us this Sunday, July 15 at Go Ape 1100 Ogden Ave Western Springs for an afternoon of crazy climbing. The cost is $15.00. This is a FPC middle school youth event only. Meet us in the church parking lot at 2:30 for carpools. We will be back around 6:00 p.m. FPC permission form and GO APE waiver in the church office.

Girls'/Guys' Small Groups
We will continue to meet weekly on Wednesdays, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Come join us, even if you've never come before. Small groups are a great way to keep your focus on God during the summer months.
This Sunday, July 15 - Train to the City Trip! 10:45am-8pm
Come to Worship @

to hear from some of our youth about the Mission Trip! Wear your pink Youth Sunday tshirt to show your support! Then, we'll race over to catch the 10:54am train to the city! We'll walk to the Bean and to Navy Pier! We should return to the Wheaton station by 7:50pm! Bring your walking shoes, sunscreen and at least $30 (for train fare, lunch and dinner)!

July 25 - Top Golf 7:30-9:30pm
We'll end small groups a little early and we'll head to Top Golf together! The cost is $20 for golf and food! Turn in a permission slip by July 23 if you'd like to come along!
