Santa Clara Parks Fees May Jump Up in 2018-19
City of Santa Clara Parks fees will rise significantly if the City Council adopts the proposed In Lieu Fee Schedule Resolution on Tuesday, April 24th. The City Council meets at 7:00pm, 1500 Warburton Avenue, Santa Clara, CA 95050. The proposed increase would be approximately 30% across the board on all unit types. This equates to about $9500 increase per unit on single family and $7500 per unit on multifamily.    Full Story
San Jose City Council Cost of Development Study Session
On Thursday, April 26, 2018 from 1:30pm - 4:00pm, the San Jose City Council will discuss the total cost of development in San Jose and how different fees and taxes impact the ability of development projects to move forward. The stated outcome is to provide the City Council with a greater understanding of the aggregate impact of all the fees that the City imposes on housing development and construction.  Full Story
Housing Accountability Act Update On RPC Agenda
The California Housing Accountability Act: What is it? How was it amended in the 2017 housing package that Gov. Jerry Brown signed? Can it help get more housing projects approved? BIA|Bay Area Senior Vice President of Governmental Affairs and General Counsel Paul Campos will answers these questions and more at the meeting of the East Bay Regional Policy Committee on May 2, 2018. The event will be held from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at KB Home's Training Room (first floor), Bishop Ranch 8, 5000 Executive, Parkway in San Ramon. BART To Discuss Livermore Extension
The BART board will discuss at its meeting on April 26, 2018, a summary of public outreach findings regarding alternatives for its proposed Livermore extension project including the full rail vs. express bus options. Two documents related to the presentation are now available: the "Proposed Project and Build Alternatives Evaluation Report" has been updated while the "Alternatives Evaluation Outreach Report" is a new document.  Full Story
Concord Offers Ex-Naval Base Tours
Concord will host free, public bus tours of the former Concord Naval Weapons Station on May 19 and July 28, 2018.  The two-hour tours will give the public a chance to see where new housing, retail and office buildings are planned on the property, as well as the Mt. Diablo Creek restoration project, tournament sports and regional parks. Two tours will be conducted each of the two Saturdays at 9 a.m. and 12 noon, starting from the Concord Civic Center at 1950 Parkside Drive in Concord. Full Story

CHF Big Day of Giving for BITA
The California Homebuilding Foundation (CHF) is conducting a virtual fundraising event supporting BITA. The event is called the BIG DAY OF GIVING and takes place on May 3rd. Building Industry Technology Academy (BITA), is a four-year building trades program currently active in 24 California high schools, training a skilled workforce to meet the growing homebuilding demand. BITA is funded 100% by donations and grants, and we need your help in supporting this program. BITA's donation home page is https://www.bigdayofgiving.org/CAHomebuildingFoundation .
 
It is easy to donate to BITA. Just open the link above and schedule your donation - that's it. The donation window is currently open and remains open until midnight, May 3rd.

Join the Professional Women in Building and f ly over to Canvas and Cabernet for a fun night of painting fireflies, sipping wine, and the opportunity to win raffle prizes, including our grand prize wine bundle!

All proceeds from this event will go to the PWB Scholarship Fund. In addition to PWB's success in providing scholarships to students attending college, we want to make scholarships available to students who are looking to get into the trades right out of high school by attending community college and trade school programs.
