Chamber Tap Tag Update

GREAT NEWS! Apple announced the latest iPhones (the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR) can perform NFC reading natively WITHOUT needing an app. Now, just like Android, you can place the phone to a tag and have it read and open the URL in Safari. Going forward, all new iPhones will support this feature. iPhones 7, 8, and X still require an app to perform NFC reading.

Stay up-to-date with Chamber events with the our Tap Tag key-fob. Don't have one? Email Brigitta today!

Retail, Hospitality and Tourism:
Skills Gap Assessment 2018

The Retail, Hospitality and Tourism Talent Network is carrying out a “skills gap” analysis. A skills gap is the difference between the workforce skills a business wants or needs, and the skills their current workers or potential workers can offer. This survey will inform the design of workforce development and training programs, thereby improving the availability of the skills you need to meet your business goals.

Thank you for participating in our survey. You are contributing to survey results covering all of Southern New Jersey (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, and Salem Counties).

Zippy’s Bikes was named one of America’s Best Bike Shops for 2018

The National Bicycle Dealers Association (NBDA) has certified Zippy’s Bikes as being among the top local bicycle retailers in the United States. Fewer than 200 qualified for this honor.

Key to certification is a lengthy application survey that quantifies key elements found in successful retail operations of all kinds. Mystery shoppers then evaluated dealers through phone & email contacts, website appeal & accuracy, and an in-store visit with detailed breakdown of their experience, from a customer’s perspective, provided to all shops participating. America’s Best Bike Shops certification requires not only great shopping experiences and expert staff, but also support for cycling local and national cycling advocacy.

The National Bicycle Dealers Association is a non-profit organization promoting the interests of cycling and specialty bicycle retail since 1946.

Congratulations Zippy's!
Thousands of Citizens Fall for Clean Ocean Action’s Beach Sweeps
Even a Pot Belly Pig Gets into the Action;
Usual Finds Abound

Over 3000 volunteers gathered today, October 20, 2018 from 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM at over 60 New Jersey beaches and waterways to clean harmful debris at Clean Ocean Action’s (COA) 33rd Annual Fall Beach Sweeps. Cloudy morning skies didn’t deter enthusiastic volunteers from spending the day cleaning, collecting and tabulating debris that they removed from shorelines from Essex to Cape May Counties. The data produced from this event is combined with the data from the Spring Beach Sweeps that was held on April 21, 2018 and publicized in an annual report that provides a deeper exploration into the pollution issues throughout the Jersey Shore. The 2018 Annual Beach Sweeps Report will be released in April 2019, prior to the 34th Annual Spring Beach Sweep. To view data presented in the 2017 Annual Report, visit CleanOceanAction.org.
