Nurturing Faith Ideas are weekly suggestions and activities from the Presbytery's Nurture Committee to link worship and home and to nurture faith development in the family. They are intended for all ages and family types. Add one to your bulletin each week or put them in your monthly newsletter. They could also be sent via email or added to a Facebook page. July 15
Read aloud Ephesians 1:3-14. The first verse (v. 3) says, "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places." How long has it been since you counted your blessings? Take time to list some of your blessings and share them with someone this week. Conclude your time of prayer by singing the chorus of the song "Count Your Blessings": Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings, see what God has done! Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your many blessings, see what God has done.
July 22
Read 2 Samuel 7:1-14a. God and the prophet Nathan discuss King David. God talks about how it will be God who will establish the house for the people, and that the Lord has not asked David to build him a house out of cedar. The reading ends with a promise, which we remember at Advent (as we think of Christ's birth), at Easter (as we celebrate the Kingdom established by Jesus through his resurrection) and in every season of the church year, as we are invited to live in the light of this kingdom rather than the lesser kingdoms that surround us. Read 2 Samuel 7:13-14 again. Pray today concerning what thing God would have you add or take away from your daily living so that you can live in the light of God's Kingdom.

On May 24, I wrote about ways churches could show their appreciation for their pastor. Recently, a session pushed back and suggested I write about how pastors could show appreciation for their church. Fair enough. Here it is.

will be July 16-20, 2019 on the campus of Purdue University. This life-changing, faith-forming event is for those who will be in grades 8-12 during the 2018-2019 school year.

 Gail Rymer, the lay pastor at Hughes River Presbyterian Church in Cairo, is one of the 2018 inductees into the Ohio Department of Aging's Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, which celebrates outstanding older Ohioans for their achievements and contributions to others; the roles they play in their communities, state and nation; and what they do to promote productive and enjoyable lives.
Rymer (at left in the photo) lives in Little Hocking, OH.

Welcome Daniel John Maleke
 Elizabeth Campbell-Maleke, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Williamstown and Waverly-Bethel Presbyterian Church, gave birth to her son, Daniel John Maleke, on June 21. Though he was born three weeks early, he is doing well, as is Mom. Daniel is pictured with his big brother, Caleb.

Robert Musgrave, the brother of Jim Musgrave, a Commissioned Ruling Elder who is chair of the PWV Vocations Committee and on the Leadership Team, passed away June 28.
