Sign-up for RAIHN* Week August 11-18
During RAIHN Week, August 11-18, 2019, we will turn our church into a home for temporarily homeless families. We'll convert our classrooms into bedrooms, cook meals, stay overnight, and provide other help. To join our volunteer team, sign up in the lounge after church on Sunday, or contact Chris DeGolyer, chrisdeg@frontiernet.net with questions. If you'd like to learn more before volunteering, we have opportunities to "shadow" experienced volunteers. A new volunteer orientation will be held on Tuesday, August 6 at 6:30 pm at Church of Jesus Christ of LDS, 1400 Westfall Rd, Rochester. RSVP to 506-9050 or coordinator@raihn.org.

NYSCU Annual Meeting | October 25 & 26
It’s a BIG Deal… so Save the Date! Our church will have a chance to shine as we welcome Universalists from around the state and region for the Annual Meeting of the New York State Convention of Universalists (NYSCU), October 25 and 26! The keynote speaker will be UUA President Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray, and we don’t often get to host a UUA President at our church! So please save the date, to volunteer and/or attend the conference as a delegate or guest. Watch for more information as the Fall approaches.
Project Team Grant
We are pleased to announce that a friend of the church (not a member), has made a very generous challenge grant to support the launch of our church Project Team anti-racism initiative. We are partnering with the Spiritus Christi anti-racism coalition (SPARC) to join in the creation of a Heritage Civil Rights Park as part of our initiative to learn about and address systemic racism in our society.
All gifts made in July and August, up to a total of $2500, will be matched dollar for dollar, so your gift will be doubled! Checks can be made out to First Universalist Church with “church project” on the memo line. Please contact Elizabeth Osta or Theo Munson, Project Team co-chairs if you have questions! Together we can!
Summer Programming for Children
Over the summer children, as always, are welcome in service or in Childcare on the second floor with Ms. Carol and Ms. Sundae; this room now has air conditioning! Children's Worship will restart when the church year begins in September.
Library open during the summer!
The Church Library and Bookstore will be open on alternate Sundays during the summer schedule - July 14, July 28, August 11 and August 25.
Call for Gardeners!
An ongoing commitment is not required. We will need waterers, weeders, and harvesters. Please contact Sarah Singal if you can assist with any of these actions at
